The company

Elia is the operator of the Belgian high-voltage transmission grid (380 kV to 30 kV) and is responsible for developing and maintaining the grid, providing users with access to it and controlling energy flows. The Elia group is a team of 2,000 professionals who have the task of ensuring the continuity of electricity supplies in Belgium.

You will report to the Center of Excellence Manager and will be responsible for defining, implementing, monitoring and supporting the business project and portfolio and their methodology to ensure that the internal improvement or business projects required to implement the Infrastructure Strategy and Roadmap can be efficiently managed and monitored in close cooperation with other departments and with 50Hertz. Your duties will include:

  • assisting the business project manager and taking on the role of project manager yourself for a number of initiatives:
    • challenging the business case;
    • challenging the project management plan, with a particular focus on the scope description, WBS, schedule, cost and resource estimates and planning;
    • reporting and analysing project actuals, costs and hours;
    • assisting with data entry in the project tools;
    • ensuring that the project methodology and processes are applied;
  • defining, improving and implementing methodology and tools: given the EPM project methodology and tools, defining, improving and implementing the infrastructure business project and portfolio processes, methods and tools; entrenching this knowledge and training business project and portfolio stakeholders;
  • performing portfolio reporting and analysis: collecting, consolidating, analysing and communicating portfolio reports; 
    • organising and facilitating project reports;
    • challenging project statuses, progress and comments;
    • generating portfolio overviews, with a particular focus on cost and resource demand;
    • comparing the reporting data with previous project and portfolio baselines;
    • defining and monitoring project interdependencies;
    • providing information for the people change plan;
  • facilitating portfolio decisions: organising and facilitating the portfolio committees for project gate and/or portfolio decisions and challenging the quality of the proposed decision-making documents. 

Your Profile

  • You hold a degree in industrial engineering, civil engineering or business engineering, or a Master's degree in economics, and are interested in managing transformation at company level.
  • The position requires at least three years of relevant experience. Basic knowledge of the energy market would be an asset.
  • You have an analytical mind.
  • You have appropriate experience in innovation and ecosystems and good economic judgement.
  • You have a sense of initiative and can work independently.
