Elia transmits electricity from generators to distribution systems, which in turn deliver it to individual consumers. Our role as transmission system operator is therefore crucial to our society. It is also vital for our economy as major companies are also directly connected to our grid.

Elia operates the high-voltage grid (30 to 400 kV), which includes over 8,600 km of lines and underground cables throughout Belgium.
