As an External Communication Advisor, you will join a dynamic team working on the visibility and reputation of an organization that plays a key role in the energy sector. You will operate in an environment where societal relevance, technical complexity, and strategic communication intersect.
In this role, you actively contribute to the development and implementation of the external communication strategy. You translate complex topics — such as developments in the electricity grid — into clear and accessible messages for diverse audiences. You combine strong content expertise with a results-oriented mindset.
You work closely with internal experts, project teams, and external partners. You support and advise spokespersons and management by preparing them with key messages and relevant content. Over time, you grow into a strong strategic sparring partner for spokespersons.
This is a versatile role in which you switch quickly between topics, stakeholders, and communication formats, with a direct impact on the organization’s external positioning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communication concepts aligned with the external communication strategy
- Gather, analyze, and translate complex technical and policy information into clear messages
- Support the communication team on editorial and operational activities
- Prepare content and key messages for spokespersons and management
- Coordinate communication assets such as presentations, videos, publications, and digital content
- Collaborate with internal experts and business teams to define and challenge key topics
- Organize and coordinate external events such as stakeholder days, press moments, and conferences
- Align with external partners such as communication agencies and production partners
- Monitor communication impact and propose improvements and recommendations
- Support crisis communication efforts and respond effectively to unexpected situations
Your Profile
- Master’s degree in communication, journalism, political or social sciences, economics, law, or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in external communication or a similar role
- Strong writing skills and the ability to simplify complex topics
- Excellent command of Dutch and French, and good proficiency in English
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to connect experts and communication needs
- Strong conceptual thinking and ability to manage communication projects end-to-end
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage change in a dynamic environment
- Team-oriented, communicative, and collaborative mindset
- Strong analytical skills and interest in complex technical topics (e.g., electricity grid, safety, congestion), with the ability to understand, challenge, and translate them into clear communication messages
