Asset Accounting Manager
Function
As Asset Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the asset base and tracking of capital expenditure (capex) projects across various projects within Elia Transmission Belgium assuring compliance with BE gaap and IFRS .
You will be responsible for financial asset management,), setting the accounting borders of capex, assuring complete and accurate asset register, tracking financial spending, monthly reporting, compliance and documentation, and process improvement. In most of your activities you will map the technical grid infrastructure (and/or digital tools) concepts with accounting logics.
As part of Group Accounting & tax team you will also interact with subsidiaries of the Group in various matters, and you will report to the Accounting & consolidation manager.
Your will lead a team of 3 people, and you will coordinate/oversee the following:
Compliance, Documentation, advisory:
- Define, maintain the accounting principles for OPEX / CAPEX from BE gaap & IFRS perspectives,
- Ensure that all financial records and documentation related to capex projects are maintained in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements
- Interaction with Controlling and Public & Regulatory Affairs teams on regulated aspects (compliance with tariff methodology and translation of our regulated/nonregulated activities into accounting principles);
- Assist with internal and external audits related to fixed/intangible assets
- Provide advice and recommendations across the company
- Maintain and further elaborate existing knowledge data base
Asset Capitalization:
- Interact with project leader and controllers to define the OPEX/CAPEX split of the projects (tangible & intangible)
- Ensure structures in SAP are set-up correctly and assure link to the asset register
- Monitor that all eligible capex expenditures are properly and timely capitalized and recorded in GL in compliance with accounting standards
Periodic Reporting and budgeting:
- Regularly review and reconcile financial data to accounting records (general ledger), identifying any discrepancies or issues, and taking corrective actions as needed
- Contribution to the elaboration of the quarterly business plan, including IFRS aspects (borrowing costs/dismantling assets/depreciations/disposals etc
- Monthly closing activities, including monthly reporting
- Key contributor to the annual closing and the preparation of the financial report and CREG reporting
Maintain asset register along the lifetime of the asset:
- Closing Capex Projects – commissioning of the assets
- Follow up and register, transfers of assets, decommissioning and write offs in the asset register and accounting systems
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in capex project tracking and accounting
- Development of asset management tools and contribution to SAP developments - innovation/digitization/simplification (IT oriented), being SAP FI/AA spoc
- Interested in digital transformation of the processes within the team
People management:
- Lead and support the team
- Provide mentorship and training
Your Profile
- You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in applied economics, Business Engineering, or similar through experience.
- You have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role or as a business controller.
- Relevant experience in Capex controlling in infrastructure entities. You possess knowledge of SAP (FI/AA) and in the specific areas of transmission network operator, particularly grid infrastructure.
- You have a strong sense of responsibility and efficiency.

- You exhibit professionalism and accuracy.
- You are proficient in Dutch, French, and English.
