Function

The Server Team is responsible for managing the Elia Group Server environment and is part of Elia Group IDS (Infrastructure, Datacom and Security. Elia Server Team is providing following services:

Server platforms (Windows /Linux), Hypervisor (VMWare), database systems (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, MongoDB), Intranet (TMD) Web services, file and print services, mailing services, certificate services, remote services (MS RDP, Citrix), cloud services (Microsoft Azure), Message queuing systems, in memory data structure store systems and backup and recovery services.

The server team consists of the following competence centers: Server Wincore pool, Server Application pool, Server Cloud pool, Server Infrastructure platform services, Server project pool and Server Operations (Linux and Windows).

 

Elia Server Team is looking for a Datacenter/hardware coordinator. In this role you will be responsible for following domains:

 

Datacenter responsibility;

Responsible for the good working and evolution of our Belgian datacenters. You will make sure that all best practices of modern datacenters are in place and further developed.

  • Providing + further evolution of power/cooling /rack space to our existing datacenters
  • Design /evolution of our server racks/datacenters  
  • Setup and evolution of monitoring in our datacenters (power – cooling – humidity…)
  • You will be the single point of contact for our critical services department and working in close contact with our maintenance suppliers
  • You will drive and follow up on regular organized tests to ensure 100% uptime of our datacenters/services (own and collocations) 

 

Hardware responsibility;

  • Drive the Server and Storage hardware topics for the Server team
  • Define the standards together with our domain experts and Server Team management
  • Define and follow up the lifetime replacements for server and storage
  • Setup processes and follow up on break/fix topics for both domains
  • Be responsible for contract and purchase management for both server and storage
  • Be the architect for server and storage monitoring together with our domain experts
  • Be responsible for our server stock management.

Your Profile

 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent through relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 year of proven experience in managing/coordinating datacenter infrastructures
    • familiar with power infrastructure (UPS, diesels) & modern datacenter cooling systems
  • Minimum 5 year of proven experience in managing Server & Storage environments
    • Having a decent knowledge of modern central storage systems (Storage Area Network) and physical servers
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities.
  • Proven experience in coordinating projects and effectively communicating with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Possesses a team player mindset while also being capable of working independently.
  • Fluent in Dutch or French, with good working knowledge of the other language.
  • Good working knowledge of English; German proficiency is a plus.
  • You’re not a 9-5 worker, taking ownership and being accountable is part of your DNA.
  • You have a driver’s license B.

Location

Schaerbeek (Vilvoordselaan 126) – regular travel between sites in Brussels and Merksem.
