Are you passionate about electrical systems and do you want to contribute to setting standards for the future of energy? Elia is looking for a Designer Specialist Expertise Secondary Systems to join our team in Brussels.


Your job responsibilities

 

As Designer Specialist Expertise Secondary Systems you play a key role in developing and managing the standards for the electrical equipment in our high-voltage facilities. You will work on protection systems, control systems, automation and measurements for the power grid. You will have the following duties:

 

  • Standard plans: Checking standard designs ("typicals") from suppliers and drawing symbols in AutoCAD.
  • Delivery testing: Participating in factory testing of electrical equipment to ensure compliance.
  • Drawing development: preparing and checking standard plans such as safety block diagrams and detailed schematic diagrams based on concept notes, standards and guidelines.
  • Standards and tools: Adapting and updating standards and tools using macros/VBA in Excel; developing and maintaining new tools as necessary.
  • International cooperation: Communicating regularly with international suppliers and occasionally travelling abroad for factory testing (FAT).

Your Profile

 

  • You have a graduate/bachelor's degree in electricity, electronics, automation or equivalent experience.
  • You have a good knowledge of AutoCAD and Windows Office applications.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and/or French with good knowledge of the other language and English.
  • You are an assertive communicator with a customer-oriented mindset.
  • You are a team player who can be flexible and you can plan your work independently well.
  • You are creative and you pay attention to quality and accuracy.
  • You are interested in new technologies and willing to build up specific expertise in an increasingly complex field.
