Designer Specialist Expertise Secondary Systems

Function

 

The Engineering Expertise Secondary Systems Department is responsible for drawing up the standards to be applied in Elia's infrastructure projects. The standards in question pertain to electrical equipment for the security system, control system, automation and measurements on the electricity grid’s high-voltage facilities.

 

 

The Designer Specialist Expertise Secondary Systems is responsible for:

 

  • checking suppliers’ standard plans and designs (‘typicals’);
  • taking part in factory acceptance tests (FATs) of electrical equipment, if necessary;
  • drawing symbols in AutoCAD, based on suppliers' plans and designs;
  • preparing and/or checking standard plans (security block diagrams and detailed principle diagrams) based on concept notes, standards, approved equipment, methodologies and guidelines for application in ELIA investment projects;
  • managing his/her own schedule, with priorities and deliverables in mind;
  • adapting and updating all standards and tools that use (VBA) macros in Excel (the entire domain of secondary systems);
  • designing, maintaining, etc. any additional tools in Excel.

Your Profile

 

Your profile as Designer Specialist Expertise Secondary Systems:

 

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with electricity, electronics or automation;
  • A good knowledge of AutoCAD;
  • A knowledge of Windows Office applications;
  • A perfect command of Dutch and/or French, a good knowledge of the other language and also a good knowledge of English - given the many contacts the successful candidate will have with international suppliers;
  • Willing to learn a profession that will eventually require a high and specific level of expertise;
  • A good, assertive communicator who is customer-oriented, resourceful and values team spirit;
  • Flexible and assertive;
  • Independent, organised, shows the proactivity required and takes responsibility for the result to be achieved;
  • Quality-focused, accurate and precise;
  • Enthusiastic about and interested in new technologies in an environment that is developing rapidly in preparation for the challenges of the future;
  • Willing to occasionally take short trips abroad to attend FATs.
