Domain: Electrical calculations for ground cables and overhead lines
Function
As an Expert in Electrical Calculations, you will be jointly responsible for the correct determination of electrical parameters and selection of cable and line connections.
The duties of this role mainly include:
- You will provide detailed impedance calculations for ground cables and overhead lines.
- For cable routes, you will carry out thermal calculations to determine the transport capacity.
- You will work closely with project management on infrastructure projects for Engineering.
- As an expert, you will build up the necessary knowledge on ground cables and overhead lines: general-technical, calculations, standards, calculation programs and tools.
- You will be aware of the latest trends in the market and exchange experiences with both internal and external contacts to acquire, maintain or expand the necessary knowledge.
- As an expert, you will cooperate in and will be jointly responsible for drawing up the necessary guidelines and standard documents.

- You will help write and deliver the necessary internal training courses and presentations.
- Within the Calculations department, we develop our knowledge in the short term regarding EMF (electromagnetic radiation) from cables that were initially placed underground.
- As your expertise grows, you will be asked to participate in internal, national and international technically-oriented working groups.
Your Profile
- Civil or industrial engineer, electrical engineering (preferred), electromechanics or electronics ICT, or a master’s degree in physics or mathematics with a strong interest in electrical engineering (theory & practice), electromagnetism, heat transfer.
- Experience or strong affinity with high voltage and/or medium voltage cables. Knowledge of HVDC and/or offshore cable systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of French and/or Dutch would be an asset.
- You are able to work proficiently in a team, are communicative and possess strong analytical and synthesising skills so that you can clearly convey complex subject matter (both verbally and in writing).
