Function
As a Secondary Systems Expert, you will build expertise on the management and implementation of new assets and processes.
Your tasks in this role mainly include:
- elaborating on the technical requirements for the secondary part (protections, automation and control) of a high-voltage substation on the basis of concept notes, participation in multidisciplinary teams for analysis of offers and market allocation;
- managing the framework agreements, including processes between Elia and suppliers for the reception testing of equipment;
- drafting technical standards and solutions based on concept notes and guidelines for application in Elia investment projects;
- supporting and advising the project teams;
- developing and providing technical training to the operational entities;
- participating in internal, national and international working groups as an expert.
Within the Secondary Systems Expertise team, you will mainly be responsible for two domains.
The power distribution domain focuses on distributing the 400/230Vac and 110Vdc auxiliary voltages within the Elia high-voltage substations.
As a Secondary Systems Expert, you will:
- be responsible for all distribution-related framework agreements (rectifiers and diesels, etc.);
- be an expert on everything power-distribution related within Elia. You will provide the technical support required in projects and by other departments in Elia.
The performance monitoring domain focuses on Digital Fault Recording (DFR), Power Quality Measurement (PQM) and Phasor Unit Measurement (PMU) devices.
As a Secondary Systems Expert, you will:
- be responsible for all framework agreements relating to DFR, PQM and PMU;
- be an expert on everything DFR, PQM and PMU-related within Elia. You will provide the technical support required in projects and by other departments in Elia.
Over time, the range of tasks may be adapted - depending on the needs within the team and your own interests.
Acquiring the necessary technical expertise in the subject matter is a prerequisite for performing the above activities.
Your Profile
- You are a civil or industrial engineer in electricity or electromechanics;
- You are able to express yourself in Dutch, French and English, both verbally and in writing;
- You look for pragmatic solutions and are customer and result-oriented;
- You are able to work well in a team, are communicative and have good powers of persuasion;
- You have strong analytical and synthesizing skills, which enables you to communicate a complex subject matter clearly (both orally and in writing);
- You independently and proactively manage the pre-agreed set of tasks;
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office would be an advantage;
- You have several years’ work experience;
- You have an “expert’s profile”:
- You are willing to gain in-depth knowledge in a specific domain;
- You are willing to acquire new knowledge about new technologies and applications to be implemented within Elia;
- You proactively seek to expand your knowledge.
- You have in-depth power distribution knowledge (400/230Vac - 110Vdc).
This will include:- experience of Caneco (calculations of the settings for machines);
- diesel generators;
- cable calculations;
- a knowledge of power distribution boards;
- a knowledge of the relevant IEC standards.
- A knowledge of Digital Fault Recording (DFR), Power Quality Measurement (PQM) and Phasor Unit Measurement (PMU) would be an advantage.
