Head of Competence and Operational & Safety Excellence

Function

 

As Head of Competence and Operational & Safety Excellence, you have a crucial transversal role within Elia Group's Assets Department. You are responsible for building operational excellence and ensuring that initiatives are effectively embedded and improved within the organization. You will do this through continuous interaction with competencies, safety and quality.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Transversal role: you will function as a coordinating and connecting link between various Assets O&SE managers to promote harmonization across the country.
  • Pursuit of Operational Excellence: You will be responsible for the development and implementation of continuous Improvement, operational dialogue, ... within the Assets Department.
  • Objectives - KPIs: You will manage the system of KPIs, targets and objectives within Assets and align the different teams with the direction given by the Assets Team.
  • Support transformation and anchor initiatives: You will support transformation processes, analyse the impact of ongoing transformation projects and provide feedback to the portfolio manager. You will ensure integration of initiatives with a focus on competencies, safety and quality.
  • Harmonization, audit and coaching: You will set up audit and coaching plans to guide technicians through change processes and identify work points while striving for uniformity and collaboration across teams within the organization.
  • Managing the OCE roadmap: You will manage the Operational Center of Excellence (OCE) roadmap and ensure effective execution, reporting and implementation.
  • Safety: You will concretize operational safety within “OCE” and form the interface between Health & Safety and the business (Assets).
  • Quality: You will develop a strategy and apply it to the implementation and monitoring of a Quality Management System (document management, processes, etc.) within Assets.
  • Competences: You will be skilled in identifying and determining short- and long-term development and competence priorities for the Assets department based on current activities and future evolutions, in collaboration with Elia Academy and other stakeholders.
  • Team management: You will manage a diverse team of 8 people, including a quality manager, safety manager, competence manager, a program manager and the matrix organisation of the operational and safety excellence team.

Your Profile

 

  • You have a degree in civil or industrial engineering or equivalent through experience.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • You have experience in and a keen interest in human resources management: you know how to manage, motivate and evolve a team to achieve common and individual objectives.
  • You are a Safety Leader and convey this to others.
  • You are a team player, easily establish contacts, build a network and are able to convince.
  • You have proven experience in project and change management.
  • You have proven experience and theoretical baggage in Continuous Improvement.
  • You are bilingual and have a very good knowledge of English.
  • You have excellent stakeholder management skills.
