High-Voltage equipment expert

As a High-Voltage equipment expert (medium- and high-voltage equipment for switchgear, transformers, cables and/or overhead lines), with a focus on power transformers, you will develop expertise on the supply and installation of new assets in projects carried out by Elia Engineering on behalf of Elia Transmission Belgium.
 

The main tasks in this job involve:
 

  • Gathering knowledge about the equipment and systems within your portfolio. You will keep up to date with the latest market trends and exchange experiences with both internal and external contacts to acquire and maintain the necessary strategic know-how.
  • Writing and updating technical specifications. For this you will identify all relevant stakeholders (e.g. grid development, maintenance, safety, ...), centralize their feedback and evaluate if and how to implement them.
  • Acting as technical lead for concluding multi-year supply contracts. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for the technical evaluation of potential suppliers (candidature files, factory audits, ...) and their equipment proposals (tender drawings, datasheets, technical documentation).
  • Acting as technical lead for pilot projects involving the integration of new suppliers/factories and implementation of new designs. You will be responsible for evaluation and validation of the design, production, factory testing, site installation and commissioning tests.
  • Providing technical documents to the project department and keeping them informed of their status.
  • Writing guidelines and basic documents to be applied in Elia’s investment projects to optimise the integration of high-voltage equipment in the substations.
  • Advising project-related colleagues. Assisting them with the implementation of their projects.
  • Managing major equipment-related quality issues, either in the factory or on site. You will represent Elia’s interests and participate in the manufacturer’s Root Cause Analyses. You will evaluate the proposed short- and long-term mitigation measures, as well as their implementation and internal communication.
  • Sharing your knowledge and experience by preparing and giving training sessions to various audiences.
  • Representing in Elia at national (BEC-CEB) and international (IEC, Cigré) committees and conferences, and taking part in relevant working groups.
  • Taking part in cross-departmental, corporate working groups.

Your Profile

 

  • You have a master’s degree in engineering, preferably specialising in electricity or electromechanics.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience. Minimum 3 years of experience with power transformers, as well as medium- or high-voltage systems in general, is preferred.
  • You are trilingual in Dutch, French and English.
  • You are willing to carry out short missions abroad. Generally, less than a week.
  • You have a strong affinity for electrical engineering and are willing to continue developing and passing on your technical expertise.
  • You are a communicative, persuasive team player.
  • You are good at analysing and summarising, which enables you to convey complex subject matter clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Office is a plus.

  • Interest subsidies: after you have been with Elia for 5 years, Elia Engineering will be able to offer you a subsidy to reduce the interest charges on your mortgage loan. This will only be possible if the mortgage loan was taken out when you were already an Elia employee.  
  • Elia shares: Elia will give you the opportunity to subscribe to shares with a discount of 16.66% on the average share price.
