Function
All the energy you receive at home is transported via the Elia grid. It doesn't matter whether the electricity comes from wind turbines in the North Sea or from nuclear power plants in Belgium or elsewhere. That’s why the greatest care must be taken with the technical assets that make up this grid.We have one of the most reliable grids in Europe, which we owe to the excellent maintenance of the network. If, despite it all, any issues do arise, our technicians are ready to carry out repairs—thanks to them, we can guarantee electricity transport 24/7.
The tasks of a Low Voltage Technician within our "Secondary Systems" team are extremely varied:
- In this role, you work within the department of ‘Protection Systems’ and ‘Automation’. In this division, you are responsible for testing and commissioning protection and control systems installed on Elia’s high-voltage grid: they form the brain of the grid. These systems are highly digitalized, and the work requires strong analytical skills.
- You are part of our maintenance team and actively search for any anomalies in our installations. If needed, you provide appropriate solutions.
Your working area, as part of the Secondary Systems team, covers all of East and West Flanders.
Your Profile
- Safety is an absolute priority for you!
- You have a bachelor's degree in a technical field (electricity, mechanics, or electromechanics), or you hold a secondary technical diploma and have equivalent experience in the electrical sector.
- Expertise and experience in the field of protection systems are of course an advantage, but Elia is also open to young candidates who have just finished their studies. The most important thing is that you share our passion for technology.
- You can analyze and adapt electrical schematics, have an interest in automation and PLC controls, and possess a solid and broad electrical knowledge.
- You are a team player and ready for a tailor-made challenge.
- You have a category B driving license.
