Medior Asset Manager concrete poles & foundations for overhead lines

Function

 

As an Asset Manager for Concrete Poles and Foundations for Overhead Lines, you will be responsible for monitoring the condition of this asset fleet as well as managing risks and maintenance budgets.

 

You will manage the full life cycle of the assets and develop technical designs, which form the basis of technical specifications. You will also develop the asset fleet strategy. You will manage a budget of approximately €1 million per year.

 

To monitor and adjust the condition of the asset fleet, you will use the information derived from incident analyses, reviews and technical analyses. When making decisions to upgrade or replace concrete poles and foundations account is taken of risks, the area around the overhead line in question and the impact on the grid.

 

In addition to the Asset Management context, you will also provide the Contact Centre with specific technical advice for the execution of works and activities carried out by third parties in the vicinity of pylons. You will take into account the risks to pylon stability and will propose measures to reduce this risk, if necessary.

 

Your advice and decisions will be based on your advanced technical expertise. As an Asset Manager, you will have a direct line to our maintenance teams and to the research departments that define and develop the long-term vision for the grid.

Your role

 

Your activities will cover both existing and new assets.

 

  • You will examine information about situations that the maintenance teams regularly experience.
  • You will analyse incidents.
  • You will draw up a policy and guidelines for maintenance, repair and replacement work.
  • You will check existing installations.
  • You will analyse diagnostic methods in order to make assets more reliable and extend their service life.
  • You will draw up a health index, stock requirements and operating limits.
  • You will analyse and develop concepts for the use of new technologies.
  • You will draw up annual and multi-year maintenance budgets.
  • You will formulate technical advice for work carried out by third parties in the vicinity of pylons.
  • You will direct and monitor external research and study partners who can be deployed to provide support on complex issues.
  • You will develop and provide training.

 

General duties

 

  • Both for yourself and for the team you will gain expertise through knowledge acquisition, training, experience, etc.
  • You will apply and adapt processes according to Elia's different departments (maintenance, projects, development, etc.).
  • You will prepare reports, presentations and procedures so that you can report and have proposals approved.
  • You will use IT tools to support the various aspects of calculations and management.
  • You will commission national and international companies to provide specific support.
  • You will analyse what kind of training the project and maintenance teams need, develop that training and propose it to the teams.
  • You will consistently provide the various departments with technical advice.
  • You will take part in internal, national and international working groups and will represent Elia within these working groups.

Your Profile

 

  • You have a master's degree in civil engineering or industrial engineering with a specialisation in civil engineering.
  • You are fluent in Dutch, French and English.
  • You have a keen interest in soil mechanics and stability calculations and a good knowledge of the applicable standards. 
  • Mechanical engineering fascinates you enormously and you want to expand your technical expertise and share it with others.
  • You are able to examine technical details in depth, but can also take the necessary distance to put them in context, taking into account the risk dimensions and financial aspects of asset management.
  • You are pragmatic and results-oriented.
  • You are customer-oriented.
  • You are able to work in a team, including with multiple teams.
  • You like to communicate and are very persuasive.
  • Since you have excellent analytical skills combined with an ability to see the big picture, you can clearly explain complex topics.
  • You will manage the duties assigned to you autonomously and proactively.
  • You can produce clear, structured reports and/or presentations on the results of your work.
  • You are enterprising.
  • An in-depth knowledge of MS Office is an advantage.
