Function
Elia plays a leading role in developing electricity markets, furthering access to these and establishing ancillary services, thereby ensuring grid security, efficiency and reliability. As Belgium's transmission system operator, Elia is at the forefront of the energy transition: integrating massive volumes of renewable energy sources, enabling the electrification of industrial processes, and designing the flexibility solutions that will allow society to reach a techno-economic optimum.
Within Elia, the System & Client Solutions (SCS) department is responsible for products that make this vision a reality: serving customers, partners, and market parties across Belgium and beyond. More specifically, the SCS department is focusing on solutions that aim at enhancing the journey of our customers across their whole lifecycle, and on solutions to develop system services that are necessary to operate the system.
About the role
As a Product Lead at SCS, you are at the heart of how we facilitate the energy transition. You will own one of our product lines, leading its vision, guiding its strategy, and ensuring it delivers real value to our customers and measurable impact to Elia and the society.
This role is about making the right choices, aligning teams around what matters most, and building the conditions for our product teams to thrive. You will report to the Product Director, working alongside other Product Leads and Chapter Leads (design, data, engineering, ...) to set the direction for Elia's product portfolio.
You will work on very topical subjects, at the heart of the challenges linked to the energy transition: access to scarce grid capacity and congestion management services.
Your mission
You are responsible for the strategic success of your product line — ensuring we solve the right problems for our customers and society and deliver business outcomes for Elia. Concretely, this means:
- Ensuring your product line has a clear, insight-driven strategy and a roadmap aligned with SCS and Elia strategy
- Empowering product teams to work on the most valuable problems, with the context, autonomy, and support they need
- Acting as the strategic bridge between product teams, stakeholders, regulators, and senior leadership — making sure everyone is aligned and informed
What you will do
Strategy
- Define and continuously refine the product line vision and strategy in alignment with SCS corporate strategy
- Translate Elia's strategic priorities (Robustness, Product Evolution & Efficiency, Consumer Intimacy, Flexibility & Data Services) into clear product bets
Execution
- Lead the key ceremonies for your product line: product weeklies, roadmap reviews, insights reviews, and stakeholder touchpoints
- Enable continuous discovery and delivery — ensuring teams talk regularly to customers, run structured experiments, and remove blockers
- Represent the product line to senior leadership; serve as the primary point of escalation for product decisions
- Foster alignment with departments in charge of operations, to capture their need and to enable a feedback loop from actual operations, to ensure that the solutions of your line are continuously improved
- Ensure close alignment with the key account managers of the Customers department to leverage their knowledge of our clients to shape the priorities and the design of the solutions.
- Collaborate closely with other Product Leads to manage cross-product-lines dependencies and maintain portfolio coherence
People & Governance
- Coach and develop your Product Managers and Product Owners across the six core competencies: Strategy, Discovery, Delivery, Marketing, Analytics, and Leadership
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and development plans for your product team
- Foster a culture of discovery, evidence-based decision-making, and outcome-focused delivery
- Set measurable KPIs for product success and team performance; act as the ultimate accountable owner for your product line's budget and performance metrics
- Ensure effective product governance across the full lifecycle — from innovation and discovery through to in-life management and retirement
External stakeholder engagement
- Your are leading the stakeholder engagement for the products developed in your line
- You set the agenda and the content of the engagement with our grid users and market parties, to support the development of your solutions
- You engage and align with the regulators at federal and regional level, and align with them on priorities and the deisgn of the solutions
