Function
As a Telecom Project Engineer, you will actively contribute towards defining, developing and supporting the implementation of the telecoms component of electricity infrastructure projects (380, 220, 150, 70 and 36 kV) involving the construction, expansion and alteration of high-voltage substations.
As a Project Engineer, you will manage multiple (around 20) projects at the same time.
This post primarily entails the following duties:
-
You will be responsible for defining, examining and designing the telecommunications component of projects and for supporting their implementation right up to the commissioning stage and administrative closure of this component of the project:
- Budgeting and feasibility studies;
- Translating needs initiated from the project into concrete telecoms needs;
- In close consultation with the managers of the telecoms infrastructure (both between stations and inside stations), determining the correct solution and documenting this in a Telecom project note;
- Assisting the design team during their detailed study (drawing up the various plans necessary for the construction and management of the telecoms installation);
- Assisting the leader of the main project during the construction phase.
-
You will work in a multidisciplinary team with a functional rather than hierarchical structure, keeping an eye on which resources are required and which are available.
-
You will report to the project leaders of the main infrastructure project.
-
The project note is the basis for drawing up the tender files for the telecommunications component. The project note must therefore be drawn up with a view to practical implementation and the various sub-phases must be clearly described.
-
You will be involved in defining new designs and determining framework agreements for telecommunications equipment, in cooperation with the expertise department.
-
You will take part in pilot projects that make it possible to validate new concepts as well as the telecommunications equipment used in the Belgian grid, plus the associated tools.
-
You will cooperate closely with the department responsible for developing and supporting Elia's telecommunications backbone (the actual telecommunications network).
