Function

 

To contribute to Europe and Belgium’s ambitions for the Energy Transition, Elia has foreseen to extend its offshore high voltage grid, the Princess Elisabeth Island project. The grid shall connect the new Belgian windfarms situated within the “Princess Elisabeth Windfarm zone”.  

 

The Princess Elisabeth Island project consists of:
 

  • an artificial energy island (with offshore transmission infrastructure)
  • multiple AC substations at 66kV & 220 kV 
  • 6x 220kV AC export cable systems of ~50 km each
  • HVDC connection (1 converter offshore, 1 converter onshore, HVDC cable system) between the artificial island and the new onshore substation of the Ventilus project
  • possibility to connect future HVDC interconnectors 

 

As part of the project team, 
 

  • You are a safety leader and continuously looking for safety improvements
  • You ensure the timely delivery of work packages and high quality of deliverable
  • You seek out design opportunities to create additional benefits to the project
  • You report pro-actively and regularly regarding status and progress of your activities
  • You can independently manage and implement specific work packages and engage with relevant contractors, suppliers and internal experts where required.

 

As Project Leader Offshore Cable,
 

  • You are part of the Cable Team and report to the Cable Package Manager.
  • You work in a multi-disciplinary team and coordinate and cooperate with, amongst others, Package Managers, Project Manager, Experts, Procurement Officers, HSE advisors, PMO officers etc.
  • You are responsible for delivering elements of the Offshore Cable scope of the projects with activities such as:
  • Development of key concepts in cable design, installation and repair.
  • Development of the tender package with a focus on the project’s technical requirements.
  • Review and evaluation of bids and technical support during negotiations.
  • Follow-up of contractors’ design and manufacturing activities.
  • Act as first point of contact throughout project execution and act as the company’s representative on site.
  • Control and assure quality and safety during on-site activities.
  • Ensure the implementation of prevailing contractual requirements.
  • You can manage interfaces and coordinate different inputs from other disciplines
  • You ensure adequate follow-up of external parties

Your Profile

 

 

  • You have a Masters in Engineering 
  • You have at least 5 years of working experience in the offshore infrastructure sector, preferably with large infrastructure projects (budget +50 mil €)
  • You have relevant experience related to the installation of subsea cables, dredging and/or other cable installation techniques as well installation tools and vessels. 
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • You are a team player
  • You are organised and results-oriented
  • You can work under pressure
  • You are proactive and a problem-solver
  • You can prioritise and act accordingly
  • You can work in an international project environment
  • You enjoy technical challenges and are a quick learner
  • You have entrepreneurial skills and are not deterred by challenges
  • You have excellent MS Office skills
  • Basic knowledge of one of the national languages (Dutch/French) is desirable 

Offer

  • Salary: a competitive salary package, allowance for representation expenses, year-end bonus, double vacation pay, meal vouchers (€8 per working day), eco-vouchers, Sinterklaas and year-end vouchers as well as bonuses based on individual and group results.  
  • Insurance: group insurance, hospitalisation insurance and ambulant care insurance for the whole family.  
  • Vacation: you will be entitled to 20 vacation days, 12 additional vacation days and 3 exempt days (after 1 year of employment) and up to 5 long-service days (1 day for every 3 years in employment).

  • Private PC plan: once every 3 years, a budget will be made available to you for a PC/tablet with software & peripherals for personal use.  
  • Mobility: we will offer you a company car and public transport or a mobility budget.  
  • Interest subsidies: after you have been with Elia for 5 years, Elia Engineering will be able to offer you a subsidy to reduce the interest charges on your mortgage loan. This will only be possible if the mortgage loan was taken out when you were already an Elia employee.  
  • Elia shares: Elia will give you the opportunity to subscribe to shares with a discount of 16.66% on the average share price. 

Location

 

  • Main office is in at Quai Léon Monnoyer 3, 1000 Brussels with site visits to the Belgian North Sea coast before and during project execution
  • Occasional international travel to contractors, vendors etc.
