Project Manager - National Control Center

Reference ID:  683

Function

A constantly evolving energy landscape (integration of renewable energy, decentralised production, new market players, shutdown of central generation units, etc.), shifting regulation (European Network Codes, incentive regulation, strategic reserves, etc.) and the further integration of European electricity markets (flow-based market coupling in the CORE region, further integration of balancing markets at European level, etc.) – with all this going on while we roll out highly ambitious investment plans (Brabo, Ventilus, Hainaut Loop, etc.) – are the driving force behind a team of dedicated Project Managers at the National Control Centre.

Project Managers at the National Control Centre not only handle the general management of challenging projects, but also develop extensive content-related expertise in order to boost their profile (both internally and externally) as experts on specific processes or methods.

More specifically, your tasks will include the following:

  • Together with your fellow Project Managers, process owners and line management, you will be responsible for managing (defining, arbitraging and obtaining approval) the portfolio of National Control Centre projects.
  • You will be responsible for implementing (coordinating, planning, deploying, training) complex, high added-value change projects in order to ensure that project objectives are met and that the projects are delivered on budget, on time and at the required quality level.
  • Project Managers at the National Control Centre can also be deployed partially/flexibly for change projects or missions in other departments, depending on the company's needs and priorities.
  • You will ensure good communication and adequate reporting about the project in order to ensure that all stakeholders have the information they need to perform their role in the project.
  • The position will also involve developing the necessary experience and expertise to be an internal and external point of contact for the company for one or more processes (transparency, contingency plans, calculation and allocation of border capacity, balancing, coordination of power plants, etc.) or operational disciplines (voltage management, congestion management, artificial intelligence, etc.).
  • If relevant, you will lead project team members so that they work together as a competent, motivated and close-knit team to achieve the project objectives in accordance with the project plans.
  • If relevant, you will be responsible for selecting external partners to supervise the project in order to provide professional support for the implementation of the project while ensuring best value for money.

Your Profile

  • You have a degree in civil or industrial engineering.
  • You speak fluent Dutch, French and English, or you have a basic knowledge and are prepared to learn these languages. German would be an asset.
  • You are able to work independently as well as in a team, and you can come up with creative solutions.
  • You have an analytical mind as well as good planning organisational skills.
  • You can communicate assertively with others, including your counterparts in other countries.
  • Experience in an operational environment and/or as a project manager would naturally be an asset.
