Function

 

As Public Affairs Manager at Elia, you will play a crucial role in forging and strengthening relations with government authorities and political players at federal and Flemish level. Working closely with members of the Public & Regulatory Affairs team, you will foster cooperative relationships with political decision-makers and encourage discussion of the company's strategic issues. You will defend the company's priorities in public decision-making processes. Together with the relevant departments, you will coordinate the approach for Elia's specific issues and projects. You will identify government concerns to be integrated into the development of our activities.

 

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Public relations strategy: you will develop and implement a public relations strategy tailored to the Flemish political and institutional context.
  • Action plans: you will identify political opportunities and risks that determine the action to be taken.
  • Stakeholder engagement: you will forge and maintain a network of contacts with policymakers and key stakeholders.
  • Advocacy: you will defend the organisation's positions by participating in certain working groups, political meetings and public consultations.
  • Project management: you will coordinate projects to put in place regulatory changes and ensure timely and effective implementation.
  • Advice: you will serve as the point of contact for management and other departments within Elia regarding policy issues.
  • Process improvement: you will spotlight opportunities for process improvement with a view to optimising regulatory compliance.

Your Profile

 

  • Education: you hold a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as law, economics, business administration or technical sciences.
  • Experience: you possess demonstrable experience in public affairs and advocacy or institutional relations, preferably in a Flemish or Belgian context. Experience in the energy sector would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge: you have excellent knowledge of Flemish political institutions, decision-making processes and regional political issues.
  • Skills: you possess excellent (spoken and written) communication and negotiation skills, in Dutch (with a good command of French and English).
  • Qualities: political acumen, diplomacy, thoroughness and a sense of initiative are part of your personality.
  • Project management: you have experience in project management and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Autonomy: you can work independently and take responsibility for your own tasks.
  • Collaboration: you are a team player who can work effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility: you are willing to work in a dynamic environment and can adapt quickly to regulatory changes.

  • Salary: a competitive salary package, allowance for representation expenses, year-end bonus, double vacation pay, meal vouchers (€8 per working day), eco-vouchers, sport & culture vouchers, bonuses based on individual and group results.
