Help shape the future of our Secondary Systems

As a Secondary Systems Asset Manager, you will play a key role in defining the future strategy of our secondary systems. Your work will directly contribute to the performance, reliability, sustainability and digitalisation of the assets that support the operation of Belgium’s electricity transmission network.

 

Working alongside experts from multiple disciplines, you will help develop innovative solutions and integrate tomorrow’s technologies into our asset strategy.

Your impact

 

As an Asset Manager, you will:

 

  • Manage asset fleets throughout their entire life cycle by collecting and analysing technical information, identifying anomalies and developing the expertise required to ensure their long-term performance.
  • Define the long-term vision for the evolution of the different asset fleets and translate it into concrete asset management strategies.
  • Develop and continuously improve maintenance and replacement policies based on operational feedback.
  • Manage the budgets and resources allocated to the different asset fleets, from forecasting to monitoring.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans and spare-parts strategies to minimise equipment obsolescence risks.
  • Define and implement asset health indicators to assess the condition and performance of the asset fleets.
  • Translate operational needs into technical specifications as part of multidisciplinary procurement projects and framework agreements.
  • Contribute to infrastructure projects by ensuring that the needs of the secondary systems are integrated while optimising both technical and economic performance.
  • Perform site visits to assess the implementation of technical concepts and policies, formulate recommendations and propose improvement actions.
  • Represent Elia as a technical expert in internal, national and international working groups.
  • Prepare the annual maintenance plan together with operational teams, balancing priorities, risks and available resources.
  • Share your expertise by developing and delivering technical training courses.
  • Continuously strengthen your technical expertise to support the evolution of our secondary systems.

Your area of expertise

 

Your role will primarily focus on:

 

  • Managing the control and monitoring systems installed in Elia substations, including Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Digital Control Systems (DCS) and the equipment used to exchange control and alarm signals with external parties.
  • Managing the telecommunication systems installed in Elia substations, including LAN networks, cabling, telecommunication converters and interfacing solutions required to connect our secondary systems to the telecommunication infrastructure.

 

You will also contribute to the integration of emerging technologies such as digital substations, Process Bus architectures, PTP synchronisation networks and Artificial Intelligence into Elia’s future asset strategy.

Your Profile

 

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic or Electromechanical Engineering.
  • You have knowledge of control systems (RTU/DCS), telecommunications or secondary systems, or you are eager to further develop your expertise in these domains.
  • You are interested in both the technical and economic aspects of asset management and are motivated to deepen your knowledge of risk management.
  • You combine in-depth technical expertise with a system-level vision and understand the broader technical and financial context of asset management.
  • You are pragmatic, results-oriented and able to combine operational thinking with a long-term strategic vision.
  • You enjoy working closely with operational teams and visiting sites whenever needed.
  • You are a team player with strong communication and influencing skills.
  • You combine excellent analytical skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics in a clear and structured way.
  • You work autonomously, proactively and take ownership of your responsibilities.
  • You communicate fluently in Dutch or French and English, both orally and in writing.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office is considered an asset.
