Your role

As a Senior Expert Secondary Systems, you will leverage your experience to further deepen your expertise in protection, automation, and control systems, while supporting technological developments and the evolving needs of the electricity grid.

Your responsibilities include:

• You coordinate and follow up on discussions regarding new IEC 61850 architectures (Substation Bus and Process Bus), working closely with colleagues from other departments and internal experts at Elia.
• You take on advanced expert assignments related to these innovative systems, drawing on your in-depth knowledge of high-voltage infrastructure and protection, automation, and control systems.
• You represent Elia in committees such as Synergrid, sharing your expertise and representing Elia’s interests in national and international projects.
• You contribute to the analysis of lessons learned, actively participate in the continuous improvement of technical standards, and propose solutions to optimise low-voltage equipment (control systems, protection systems, batteries, etc.).
• You provide your expertise to Elia’s infrastructure projects by defining technical requirements and identifying techno-economic optimisations to improve grid performance.
• You play a key role in developing your colleagues’ skills by sharing your technical expertise, participating in internal working groups, and supporting new colleagues.

What are we looking for?

• You hold a Master’s degree in Civil or Industrial Engineering, with a specialisation in electrical or electromechanical engineering, and have proven experience in protection, automation, or high-voltage infrastructure.
• You are fluent in French or Dutch as well as English and feel comfortable working in a multidisciplinary technical environment.
• You are recognised for your ability to coordinate complex projects and propose innovative solutions.
• You are comfortable using IT tools and motivated to further develop your expertise in the asset management software used at Elia.
• You are eager to contribute to large-scale multidisciplinary projects while collaborating with experts from different fields.
