Function

At Elia, we continuously seek engineering graduates, and we create opportunities for junior engineers all-year round to meet our growing business needs. 

As a junior engineer at Elia, you will contribute to projects that shape the electricity system of the future – whether in infrastructure, maintenance, system operations, grid development or market design.

What you will do

Depending on your expertise and background, you may:

•    Design, build or maintain key parts of Belgium’s high-voltage grid
•    Help operate the electricity system safely and reliably in real-time.
•    Contribute to infrastructure projects that drive the energy transition.
•    Analyze technical and operational data to support efficient decision-making in our National Control Centre.

Our young engineers start in diverse environments and grow towards roles such as Project Leader, Project Engineer, Asset Manager, System Engineer, Market Engineer,…

Your Profile

•    Education: You hold or are about to complete a Master’s degree in industrial or civil engineering.
•    Curiosity and motivation: You are eager to learn and want to play an active role in shaping a more sustainable energy system.
•    Problem-solving mindset: You enjoy understanding how things work and finding practical, creative solutions.
•    Collaborative spirit: You value teamwork, communication, and knowledge-sharing, and you’re comfortable taking responsibility when needed.
•    Adaptability: You’re open to new challenges and enjoy learning in a dynamic environment.
•    Languages: You speak Dutch and/or French fluently; English is an asset.
