Function
Within Elia Group’s division for Digitalization, IT & Innovation (Division D), we have recently implemented a product organization as new operating model to complement our classical project-oriented way of working. Division D offers a series of chapters specializing in areas according to expertise in which the primary goal is to offer highly qualified resources towards the different projects and products. One of the sub-chapters in the Data Chapter is the Data Engineer sub-chapter centered on profiles (Data Engineers) with a focus on handling huge sets data with batch (including micro-batches). As such these profiles have a high maturity on data storage technologies (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, non-relational databases), decentralized query engines (Spark-based, DuckDB …) and processing & orchestration engines (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, …), especially in a cloud environment (Azure) but also on an on-prem environment. We are looking for a sub-chapter Lead who will attract, develop, and retain scarce talents in order to capitalize the know-how, rationalize the best practices and increase our maturity in the different expertise areas.
As a Sub-Chapter Lead-Data Engineering, you will be the line manager of a team composed of internal and/or external resources. You will report directly to the Data Chapter Lead. Besides the Sub-Chapter Lead position, you will also be participating part-time in a Product Team.
- Align and execute objectives of the sub-chapter in accordance with the chapter’s vision and strategy.
- Collaborate closely, acting as a sparring partner, with the chapter lead and different stakeholders across the organization, including product or project teams, and external partners to manage the demand and the capacity of the sub-chapter.
- Hire and develop the members of the sub-chapter, including defining career growth path, skill development, and performance reviews.
- Ensure best practices, tools, and methodologies are shared and standardized across the chapter by facilitating knowledge sharing, learning, and continuous improvement in the functional area of the sub-chapter.
- Execute the change initiatives impacting the sub-chapter's functional area.
- Participate actively in the evangelization and “telling the story” of the chapter through various communication channels to all key stakeholder segments.
- Gather, track and report on the value proposition KPIs of the sub-chapter.
- Oversee and ensure group cohesion on sub-chapter level, considering the diversity of the respective chapter members. This may require travel efforts between 50hz and ETB locations.
- Participate part-time in a Product Team as a Data Engineer.
- Ensure continuous improvement of practices around querying (structured and non-structured), storing (Lake, Relational and non-relational databases), processing (Data transformations, Data enrichments …) and visualizing data (Reporting, Dashboarding …).
- Contribute to convergences on tooling, configuration of this tooling and usage of the tools around querying, storing, processing and visualizing data.
- Resolve priority conflicts due to resources availability with stakeholders.
- Challenge, qualify and coordinate introduction of new areas next to querying, storing and processing data.
