Function
The Sustainability Department ensures that sustainability is integrated into all our activities. You will be part of the department’s ESG team. This team is responsible for managing the ActNow sustainability programme (Governance), is intensively involved in non-financial reporting (Disclosure) and initiates various actions to facilitate the achievement of our Climate, Environment and Circularity objectives (Implementation).
You will be the team's Sustainability Change Management Expert. Your role is at the intersection of sustainable project management, change management and culture transformation and its object is to help make it easier for other departments to understand, adopt and implement ESG actions.
Your most important duties and responsibilities will be as follows:
Supporting ESG project management:
Developing sustainability projects and assisting with follow-up (e.g. CO₂ reduction projects, circularity initiatives and biodiversity actions) in close collaboration with the department in question and with a specific focus on the departments responsible for the construction of new infrastructure and the management of our existing assets. Preparing materials for internal governance, steering groups and reporting (in line with CSRD and ESG transparency requirements).
Contributing to change management:
Preparing stakeholder mapping and adoption plans for sustainability projects. Contributing to communication materials that help teams adopt new processes. Helping with the organisation of workshops, change interventions and the collection of lessons learned. Identifying obstacles and helping propose solutions to accelerate adoption.
Strengthening the Sustainability Culture at Elia:
Helping integrate ESG principles into daily practices, in line with the Make a Difference culture pillars. Supporting awareness campaigns, internal training and engagement activities in respect of sustainability, climate and the environmental impact. Collecting and sharing good examples and success stories.
Your Profile
- You have a Master's degree in the (environmental or economic) sciences or equivalent;
- You have at least 2-3 years' experience at Elia or in an environmental/sustainability role or change management;
- You are pragmatic and customer-oriented and seek opportunities to anchor change in existing processes;
- You have experience of project management and also of change management or organisational development;
- You have good communication skills and strong powers of persuasion;
- You are interested in sustainability in a broader sense. You preferably already have a good knowledge of environmental and sustainability legislation at a local and European level (CSRD);
- You work efficiently, enjoy working as part of a team and are organised;
- You are able to work independently and participate in internal and external working groups and cross-functional projects;
- You are open to other points of view and are solution-oriented;
- You are able to develop your own network and also have a good understanding of the main stakeholders in your different areas of responsibility;
- You have an excellent knowledge of Dutch AND French and a good practical knowledge of English.
