Job Description
A well-developed electricity grid is crucial for maintaining and strengthening Belgium’s prosperity, both for households and for businesses.
This need is even greater today in the context of the transition to a low‑carbon society, as well as the geopolitical context requiring greater energy independence for Europe and the rest of the world.
Elia plays a key role as the transmission system operator and developer of the high-voltage grid.
Specifically, the Grid Projects South department is responsible for delivering investment projects for the development of the high‑voltage grid in Wallonia and Brussels. This includes projects for connecting industrial users, reinforcing substations for distribution system operators, and strengthening the overall underlying transmission network.
The engineering and design activities related to investment projects for Wallonia and Brussels are regionally divided into the West and East portfolios, with an open vacancy for a Team Lead Project Engineer Substations.
Our project portfolio will grow significantly in the coming years, with a strong focus on the swift realisation of these projects for society, while ensuring cost efficiency and maintaining the safety of all involved parties as the top priority.
Are you a technical expert with experience in leading multidisciplinary projects? As Team Lead Project Engineer Substations, you are the central link between project managers and the engineering office. You are not only responsible for the technical development of projects within a multidisciplinary team, but you also lead a team of talented project engineers.

- You are actively involved throughout the entire project process, from feasibility study (conceptual) to project closure. You proactively identify the impact of new concepts on project operations and take action to ensure smooth implementation.
- Your creativity and vision come into play when shaping new processes and tools. You ensure that technical studies meet expectations.
- You are able to design new processes and implement them within the organization.
- You report to the Engineering Manager.
Your Profile
- You hold a Master’s degree in Civil or Industrial Engineering, or have equivalent experience.
- You have experience as a people manager.
- You possess strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
- You have the analytical ability to solve complex technical problems.
- You are capable of designing new processes and organisational structures.
- You have a good command of Dutch, French, and English.
