Teamlead Real-Time Grid Data Operations
Requisition ID:  11174
Posting Start Date:  15/09/2026

Your impact

At Elia, we make the energy transition possible. As a leading European transmission system operator, we ensure that sustainable energy reaches everyone safely, reliably and efficiently. This is no simple task: the rise of renewable energy, batteries, flexibility and digitalisation, combined with an increasingly integrated European energy market, is making the energy system more complex than ever. That is why we are investing extensively in innovative data-driven solutions and new grid infrastructure.

As Teamlead Real-Time Grid Data Operations, you will play a key role in Elia’s digital transformation. Together with your team, you will work at the heart of our Energy Management System (EMS), ensuring that the Belgian high-voltage grid is accurately represented in the EMS at all times, based on reliable, high-quality real-time data.

You will also work closely with the EMS Product Teams to continuously improve the availability, reliability and quality of real-time EMS data. Your proposals and ideas will provide crucial input for the further optimisation and automation of data flows using innovative technologies.

Your Role

  • You will be the driving force behind a high-quality real-time data environment within the EMS, ensuring the quality, reliability, availability and security of operational data through clearly defined KPIs and SLAs.
  • You will maintain an overview of the complex end-to-end data processes that form the digital backbone of the national and regional control centres. Thanks to your insight and guidance, operators will always have access to the right data at the right time.
  • You will manage, prioritise and plan your team’s backlog. This includes both straightforward requests for the processing of new data and more complex operational and technical issues.
  • You will play a key role in addressing and resolving incidents within this critical operational environment. You will ensure structured follow-up and help prevent recurring problems.
  • You will provide clear dashboards and reports offering insight into data quality and availability, backlog progress and team performance. You will define and monitor relevant KPIs and SLAs and link them to the necessary improvement actions.
  • Thanks to your operational knowledge, you will be one of the driving forces behind the further development of our real-time products. You will actively contribute insights, expertise and proposals for improvement.
  • You will understand the impact of real-time data on electricity grid operations, for example in relation to load-flow analyses, short-circuit calculations and congestion management.
  • You will work closely with the EMS Product Teams, operational teams, technical experts, other TSOs and DSOs, and external partners to further improve data flows, processes and working methods.
  • You will actively monitor technological developments in the real-time domain and take a leading role in promoting and fostering innovation.
  • You are a true people manager. You inspire, coach and support your team members in their professional development. You set clear priorities, encourage collaboration and create an environment in which everyone can perform at their best.

What Do You Bring

You thrive in a complex environment in which clear structures and high data-quality standards are essential. The data processed by your team have a direct impact on the operation and stability of the Elia grid and, by extension, on Belgium’s electricity supply. You also gain energy from coaching and supporting your team members and helping them grow.

To succeed in this role:

  • you hold a master’s degree in a technical field such as electrical engineering, electromechanical engineering, energy engineering or an equivalent discipline;
  • you have an excellent understanding of the operation and modelling of high-voltage grids;
  • you preferably have relevant experience with Energy Management Systems, SCADA, grid calculation tools or similar environments;
  • you preferably have experience with incident and problem management in a critical operational environment;
  • you are curious about all aspects of data management and data quality and actively follow developments in this field;
  • you use KPIs, dashboards and reports to set priorities and define concrete follow-up actions;
  • you enjoy engaging with a variety of stakeholders and translate their expectations and concerns into concrete actions;
  • you have strong people-management, communication and coaching skills;
  • you take a critical and solution-oriented approach: what works well, what does not, and what needs to be improved tomorrow?
  • you are willing to gain hands-on experience with tools such as MS Office, Jira and Confluence, as well as the systems in which we manage our data and data flows;
  • knowledge of SQL, Python, Databricks, Power BI or similar tools is an asset;
  • you speak Dutch and French, both at a minimum B1 level. Knowledge of English is an asset.
