Function

The “Protection” team at Elia is responsible for specific operational tasks related to Secondary Systems equipment, particularly protection devices.

 

Due to the ageing of the electricity network and the introduction of new technologies, it is essential to promptly implement new protection systems and to take the necessary measures to ensure the lifespan of our existing assets. This is achieved by developing and/or applying adaptive maintenance programs, carrying out interventions and/or specific actions on existing protection systems.

 

Specifically, we are looking for a colleague to strengthen the current Protections team and help it address the challenges of tomorrow. This position mainly includes the following tasks and responsibilities:

 

  • Carrying out factory acceptance tests on the full range of protection systems with different suppliers.
  • Performing commissioning tests, interventions, and/or specific actions in close collaboration with field teams.
  • Conducting preliminary tests on protection systems or their components when concluding new framework agreements.
  • Performing specific tests in the LV Lab at the request of the SecSys Asset Manager.
  • Developing, in agreement with other experts, tailored working methods for specific interventions on protection systems.
  • Organising training sessions for protection systems or new working methods to be introduced.
  • Preparing and applying the required safety rules within their competencies during on-site interventions.

Your Profile

  • You have at least 3 to 4 years of field experience in commissioning works, particularly in the area of protection systems.
  • You are a team player and are ready to take on a tailor-made challenge.
  • You have a strong sense of responsibility.
  • You are willing to continuously improve your knowledge and share it with others.
  • You are flexible.
  • You have a good command of both administrative software packages such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and more technical software such as Digsi, Micom Agile, etc.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree or a technical qualification in electricity, electronics, or electromechanics.
  • You attach great importance to safety, which is reflected in your behaviour.
  • You have a category B driving licence and are willing to travel to our installations or to our protection systems suppliers throughout Belgium.
  • Administrative tasks can be carried out in the various Service Centers.
  • Knowledge of Dutch and English is an asset.
  • You are willing to make occasional short trips abroad.
