Join Elia’s Secondary Systems – Settings & Software Interfaces team and play an active role in the security, stability and development of Belgium’s high-voltage grid.
At the heart of the energy transition, you will play a key role in configuring and optimising the protection systems that ensure the country’s continuous power supply every day.
Your role
As part of a team of passionate experts, you will be responsible for calculating, documenting and monitoring the settings of the protection systems used on the Elia grid.
In a constantly evolving technical environment, you will help tackle the challenges associated with grid modernisation, the integration of new technologies and maintaining the performance of existing installations.
Specifically, you will be required to:
- Define and calculate protection settings for high-voltage grid installations.
- Carry out selectivity studies and contribute to the continuous improvement of protections coordination.
- Participate in the analysis of technical incidents and propose the necessary corrective actions.
- Monitor the implementation of settings in the field in collaboration with the maintenance and commissioning teams.
- Develop settings related to the connection of new customers and ensure their optimal integration into the grid
- Produce clear, high-quality technical documentation to ensure the long-term retention of knowledge.
- Work with a wide range of in-house experts (Engineering, Asset Management, Asset Operations, GD & NetOp, etc.) on strategic projects for the future of the grid

Your Profile
You are a meticulous, inquisitive person with a passion for electrical systems.
Ideally, you will have:
- A minimum 5 years of experience in the field of electrical protection, commissioning or similar activities.
- A bachelor’s degree or technical qualification in electricity, electronics or electromechanics.
- Knowledge of protection systems and associated software (Digsi, MiCOM Agile, ASR or equivalent) would be an advantage.
- Excellent analytical skills and a genuine interest in solving complex technical problems.
- A collaborative approach, whilst being able to work independently.
- A strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools.
- Proficiency in at least one of the national languages (French or Dutch) as a native language, with willingness to learn the other; English is a plus
