Function

 

Elia Group is driving the decade of electrification, accelerating the energy transition and adapting to new consumption behaviours. Elia Group is building an operations team for the new Elia Digital Platform (EDP). The EDP Platform is a service oriented, cloud-native platform that is being built to provide application teams with self-service capabilities to develop, run and operate their software products. EDP Platform provides services for application infrastructure, data, service lifecycle management, application build and delivery as well as services to operate their software products. The EDP Platform is deployed as a hybrid cloud, encompassing both private cloud and select public clouds. The EDP BE operations team will focus on the operational tasks for Elia Transmission Belgium’s private cloud. 


The team is now looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer.


As Cloud Infrastructure Engineer you will play a crucial role, taking on the responsibility of infrastructure T3 product operations. This encompasses implementation and operations on the physical and virtualized compute, storage and network infrastructure but also the Kubernetes clusters.

 

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage Kubernetes clusters supporting virtualization and physical components (compute, storage, network)
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Implement observability solutions to monitor infrastructure health, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Help establishing an operations team comprised of internal and external employees
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team, infrastructure teams, and others

Your Profile

 

Technical skills

  • Physical and virtual compute and storage infrastructure experience in a private or hybrid cloud environment is required, virtual network infrastructure and services are a strong plus.
  • Hands-on datacenter experience
  • Hands-on DevOps experience deploying the infrastructure, virtualization and container management platform through configuration management systems (e.g. Ansible, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Scripting (e.g. Shell, YAML, Python and Ansible)
  • Monitoring and observability (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, IaaS components: Compute, network, storage and GPU fabric)

 

Non-technical skills

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT infrastructure operations in a governmental or enterprise environment with very critical high availability requirements (e.g supranational organizations, telco, fintech/banking or similar)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with cloud technologies
  • Fundamental understanding of core operations processes (incident management, change management, problem management, IT Service Management)
  • Fluent in English in speech and writing. Dutch, French and/or German is a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication and leadership skills

 

Other

  • In possession of a valid drivers license.
  • On-call support: participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems and infrastructure.
