Elia Group is driving the decade of electrification, accelerating the energy transition and adapting to new consumption behaviours. Elia Group is building an operations team for the new Elia Digital Platform (EDP). The EDP Platform is a service oriented, cloud-native platform that is being built to provide application teams with self-service capabilities to develop, run and operate their software products. EDP Platform provides services for application infrastructure, data, service lifecycle management, application build and delivery as well as services to operate their software products. The EDP Platform is deployed as a hybrid cloud, encompassing both private cloud and select public clouds. The EDP BE operations team will focus on the operational tasks for Elia Transmission Belgium’s private cloud.
The team is now looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer.
As Cloud Platform operations engineer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the availability and reliability of our hybrid cloud platform services. You’ll collaborate closely with software engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to enhance the performance and availability of these Kubernetes-based systems.
Scope of responsibilities:
- Responsible for setting up structures & processes to operate, maintain and manage our container services and products. This includes establishing processes for incident, problem, and change management
- Contribute towards the development of the observability platform
- You must be able to function in a virtual, cross-functional team as an ambassador for the EDP project and ensure development methodologies are aligned to the EDP project principles, standards and implementation.
- Implementation of CI/CD processes, tooling, concepts and associated quality and security assurance for software delivery
- Implement observability solutions to monitor the data services health, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Implement and follow-up on policies, compliance and security.
- Help establish an operations team comprised of internal and external employees. Work collaboratively with other members of the team, infrastructure teams, and others. Work with the delivery team for the operationalization of our data technologies for our internal clients.
- Reinforce our operations: executing service requests, handle incidents and follow-up on problems
- Contribute to the platforms documentation and share knowledge.
- Contribute to the development of the data products with a focus on reliability and stability.
Your Profile
Technical skills
- Thorough knowledge of containerization and container management, packaging of applications customization of deployments
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes, including KRM, CRDs, Kubernetes operators (with custom-build operators being a plus),…
- Experience in gathering operational insights from monitoring or observability including SLI/SLA/SLO management and tracking with Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk
- Profound knowledge and implementation experience with CI/CD processes, tooling, concepts and associated quality and security assurance for software delivery
- Good understanding of networking concepts, including protocols, load balancing, and security
- Scripting & programming (e.g. Shell, YAML, Python and Ansible)
Non-technical skills
- At least of 4 years of operational experience with large enterprise applications or systems in a private / hybrid cloud environment
- Fundamental understanding of core operations processes (incident management, change management, problem management, IT Service Management)
- Fluent in English both in writing and speaking. Knowledge of Dutch, French and/or German is a plus.
- Must have excellent communication and leadership skills

- In possession of a valid driving licence.
- On-call support: participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems and infrastructure.
