Your mission
All the energy consumed in Belgium flows through the Elia grid, whether it comes from wind turbines in the North Sea, power plants in Belgium or abroad. To meet changing needs and guarantee a reliable supply 24 hours a day, Elia designs, develops, reinforces and maintains its technical infrastructure with the utmost care.
As part of our field teams, you will contribute directly to this essential mission and to the reliability of one of Europe’s best-performing electricity grids.
As Deputy Commissioning Manager for the South-West region, you will contribute to managing technical interventions on the Belgian high-voltage grid. These cover both the management of projects in the field and the performance of tests before equipment is commissioned. You will report to the Commissioning Manager for the South-West region, who retains final responsibility.
Your responsibilities
- You will support the Commissioning Manager in organising, monitoring and optimising field interventions to ensure service continuity.
- You will assist the Commissioning Manager in managing the team of field employees and contribute to their development within the organisation.
- In consultation with the Commissioning Manager, you will help harmonise and implement processes and working methods.
- You will validate the commissioning of new infrastructure equipment, including the construction process, within the framework of projects and in compliance with operational safety requirements.
- You will implement new safety rules and actively ensure in the field that existing safety measures and working methods are observed.
- You will act as the technical point of contact for internal and external customers.
- You will advise the Commissioning Manager on optimising the department’s structure and processes.
- You will lead or participate in various cross-functional projects and working groups.
What do you already bring to the role?
- You hold a degree in civil or industrial engineering, or have equivalent experience.
- You have several years of experience in a similar role and a sound knowledge of how a high-voltage grid operates, particularly the tests that must be carried out before equipment is commissioned.
- You have excellent organisational skills.
- You have excellent analytical skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
- You are bilingual in French and Dutch and have a good command of English.
