Job Description

The Engineering Standards & Expertise (ESE) Secondary Systems (SecSys) department is responsible for developing the standards to be applied in Elia’s infrastructure projects. These standards pertain to electrical equipment used for protection systems, control systems, automation, and measurement in the high-voltage installations of the electricity grid.

 

The key responsibilities of the Designer Specialist ESE include:

  • Reviewing and verifying standard plans/designs (“typicals”) provided by suppliers.
  • Participating in factory acceptance tests of electrical equipment when required.
  • Creating symbols in AutoCAD based on supplier plans and designs.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing standard plans (protection block diagrams and detailed principle diagrams) based on concept notes, standards, approved equipment, methodologies, and guidelines for use in Elia investment projects.
  • Managing your own planning according to priorities and deliverables.Being responsible for updating and maintaining all standards/tools utilizing macros/VBA in Excel (covering the entire domain of secondary systems).
  • Designing and maintaining additional tools in Excel where needed.

Your Profile

  • Associate degree/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electricity, electronics, or automation.
  • Good command of AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in Windows Office applications.
  • Excellent command of Dutch and/or French, good knowledge of the second national language, as well as a good command of English due to frequent contacts with international suppliers.
  • Willingness to learn and develop expertise in a field that will demand a high and specific level of expertise over time.
  • An effective and assertive communicator who is customer-focused, values teamwork, and is resourceful.
  • Flexible and assertive.
  • Able to work independently, organized, and proactive, taking responsibility for achieving results.
  • Quality-oriented, accurate and precise in work.
  • Interested in new technologies in an environment that is rapidly evolving to meet future challenges.
  • Willing to undertake short trips abroad to attend factory acceptance tests (FATs) from time to time.

  • Elia shares: Elia will give you the opportunity to subscribe to shares with a discount of 16.66% on the average share price.
