Telecom Technician
Function
The Datacom team provides Elia with a reliable and fault-tolerant communication platform. The department’s responsibilities include fixed and mobile telephony, satellite telephony, security technology, the remote operation and monitoring of high-voltage substations, data collection, physical security and communication with other partner companies.
- You will be responsible for maintaining the Datacom technologies (optical fibre, copper cables, modems, telephony, PDH E1, SDH, Ethernet, IP and DWDM, etc.);
- You will be involved in the evolution and extension of the Datacom network, to ensure it continues to be performant and reliable;
- You will travel to the high-voltage substations, service centres and data centres in Flemish Brabant in a service vehicle (van) on a daily basis. You are willing to travel to Antwerp and Limburg regularly as well;
- Your day on site will start at 7.30 a.m. and end at 3.35 p.m. You will finish at 2.50 p.m. on Fridays. You will receive compensation for travel outside working hours.

Your Profile
- You have a passion for telecom and are willing to be trained in our technologies;
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in electronics or telecommunication or relevant technical experience;
- You are able to organise and plan your work independently;
- You are able to respond to changing priorities and unforeseen circumstances;
- You have a category B driving licence and are willing to travel in Flemish Brabant on a daily basis and you are willing to travel regularly to Antwerp or Limburg;
- You enjoy working alone or in collaboration with subcontractors;
- You are a native Dutch speaker and will preferably have a good knowledge of French, or be prepared to learn French;
- You are able to read and understand technical documentation in English and/or are willing to do English language courses.
