Internship- Python GUI Interface voor Power Electronic Design Studies (POWEL)

Function

During this internship, you will:

  • Build a high‑level understanding of the building blocks of MTDC HVDC systems and the design workflow.
  • Become familiar with POWEL’s modular architecture and its role in simulation automation, post‑processing, and reporting.
  • Design and build functional GUI prototypes using Python GUI frameworks (Tkinter, PySimpleGUI, DearPyGUI, PyQt, …) and/or web‑based frameworks (Streamlit, Taipy, …).
  • Demonstrate the value of GUI‑based workflows for data entry, study execution, and results visualization.
  • If time permits: help define requirements for a fully integrated standalone GUI application and explore refactoring needs for backend–frontend separation.

Your Profile

We are looking for a motivated student with:

  • Strong Python experience and interest in programming.
  • Experience with at least one Python GUI framework.
  • Good programming practices and ability to use LLMs for development assistance.
  • Bachelor and/or Master in IT & Programming, Power Electronics, or System Studies.
  • Excellent fluency in English (all documentation and your main supervisor are English‑speaking).
