lia Group is looking for a highly experienced and strategically minded M&A candidate to join the Brussels-based team. In this role, you will play an important part in advancing the Group’s M&A agenda. You will work closely with the Head of IR, M&A and Financial Partnerships and collaborate with key internal stakeholders across strategy, finance, innovation, legal, digital and business units.
Working in close partnership with the Head of IR, M&A and Financial Partnerships and cross-functional teams, you will be responsible for :
- M&A and Strategic Investments
- Drive the assessment and execution of M&A opportunities across the energy transition value chain, from preliminary screening to due diligence, valuation, structuring, negotiation and closing.
- Conduct robust financial modelling, scenario analysis and investment case development to support strategic decisions.
- Coordinate internal and external advisors (financial, legal, technical) involved in M&A processes.
- Support the preparation of investment papers, governance approvals and management presentations.
- Internal Collaboration & Corporate Visibility
- Serve as a bridge between corporate functions (strategy, finance, innovation, digital) and external partners to ensure strategic alignment and smooth execution.
- Prepare high-quality management reporting, analytics, dashboards and forecasting related to M&A activity, partnerships and investment performance.
- Provide input to Investor Relations communications where M&A intersect with the Group’s equity story.
Your Profile
- A Master’s degree in finance, economics, engineering or a related field.
- 7–10 years of relevant professional experience in M&A, corporate finance, strategy consulting, investment roles, or within funds—ideally in the energy, digital or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong understanding of the energy transition, digital business models, and infrastructure investment dynamics.
- Proven end to end M&A experience (screening to closing), with an ability to manage complex processes and multiple stakeholders.
- Solid financial modelling and analytical skills—data driven and structured in your decision making.
- Curiosity and a growth mindset: you continuously seek to improve processes, be challenged intellectually and explore new trends.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills—you can build trust, convince senior decision makers and represent Elia Group externally.
- A collaborative and proactive attitude; you thrive in cross functional environments and take initiative naturally.
- Highest standards of integrity, transparency and ethical behaviour.
- Strong written and spoken English; German , French and Dutch are assets.
