Function

The role of High Voltage Grid Load & Risk Expert is attached to Merksem's regional dispatching.

This role involves mainly the following tasks:

 

  • Analysing outages, using grid calculation tools, as well as your own expertise, up to and including Day -1.
  • Drawing up and monitoring the annual plan for grids of up to 150kV.
  • Helping to draw up the annual plan for grids of 150kV and above in conjunction with the National Control Centre (NCC) and the Northern regional plan. It also involves responsibility for following up the progress of the project at subsequent quarterly meetings.
  • Contacting customers (industrial, DSO and production) in order to plan outages. Dealing with customer requests and following them up.
  • Coordinating and approving the weekly outage schedule.
  • Taking part in weekly meetings with dispatching and ensuring the necessary coordination with the national dispatching planning department.
  • Organising weekly meetings with the dispatchers.
  • Supporting regional dispatching with delivery of outages thanks to a well-prepared and documented schedule.
  • Contributing to the (continuous) improvement of operational processes and planning tools.
  • Assisting the grid operations engineers in approving scenarios using analysis and expertise.
  • Carrying out specific analyses, e.g., upon customer request.
  • Providing support in keeping the various calculation models up-to-date, ensuring the grid calculation programmes function correctly.

Your Profile

Your profile as High Voltage Grid Load & Risk Expert: 

 

  • You should hold a higher technical diploma in electric engineering or be able to attest to equivalent experience.
  • You should have knowledge of grid operations. Knowledge of grid calculation would be an asset.
  • You have theoretical knowledge of electrical grids, protection systems and alarms, etc.
  • You have knowledge of electrical installations in the field (high voltage, medium voltage, etc.).
  • At least five years' experience in these areas.
  • You are familiar with and have a sound knowledge of common software (Word and Excel).
  • Knowledge of planning tools (Optimus, PP, etc.) would be an asset.
  • A good knowledge of French would also be an asset.
  • Ability to work meticulously and independently.
  • You take responsibility for the work you do.
  • You are keen to learn and are flexible.
