Junior Geo-Engineer Offshore

Function

 

As a Junior Offshore Geo-Engineer, you will be co-responsible for managing and monitoring seabed monitoring surveys, seabed data, the excavation depths of offshore cables, risk analyses and possible geo-hazards for our offshore assets. You will be familiar with geophysical and geotechnical techniques, (marine) data management and Geographic Information Systems. As part of a motivated and ambitious offshore team, you will draw on your specific knowledge and expertise to support the operational management and maintenance of our offshore assets (offshore cables and offshore structures). In this role, you will report to the Offshore Geo and Consent Manager and play an important role in the management and further development of Elia’s offshore activities.

 

  • You will support management of the offshore geographic database and related software systems;
  • You will be co-responsible for monitoring and managing monitoring surveys and analyse and report on survey results;
  • You will support offshore activities by managing and preparing specific map material and reports;
  • You will be the technical discussion partner and expert for internal and external stakeholders;
  • You will advise asset managers on management and maintenance activities for our offshore assets;
  • You will have the ability to formulate the risk analyses and recommendations necessary for the management of our offshore assets;
  • You will be closely involved in the development and monitoring programmes for the future Princess Elisabeth energy island;
  • You will actively participate in various projects and working groups.

Your Profile

 

  • At the very least, you will have a Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience (Geology, Geophysics and Geography) or Surveying (Geomatics) or equivalent experience. A Master’s degree would be an advantage;
  • You have an in-depth knowledge of geological and geomorphological processes and are familiar with geophysical, geotechnical and hydrographic survey techniques;
  • You have a sharp analytical and critical mind and strong problem-solving skills;
  • You are pragmatic and have a precise and structured approach;
  • You have good organisational skills;
  • You are able to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English and have a knowledge of French;
  • You have a knowledge of geographic data management and databases;
  • You have an in-depth knowledge of MS Office applications;
  • You have a sound knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and/or other GIS applications. Knowledge of AutoCAD and BIM software would be an advantage;
  • You have a strong interest in offshore energy and marine aspects.

  • Salary: a competitive salary package, allowance for representation expenses, year-end bonus, double vacation pay, meal vouchers (€8 per working day), eco-vouchers, Sinterklaas and year-end vouchers as well as bonuses based on individual and group results.

  • Private PC plan: once every 3 years, a budget will be made available to you for a PC/tablet with software & peripherals for personal use.  
  • Mobility: we will offer you a company car and public transport or a mobility budget.  
  • Interest subsidies: after you have been with Elia for 5 years, Elia Engineering will be able to offer you a subsidy to reduce the interest charges on your mortgage loan. This will only be possible if the mortgage loan was taken out when you were already an Elia employee.  
  • Elia shares: Elia will give you the opportunity to subscribe to shares with a discount of 16.66% on the average share price.
