Function

A well-developed electricity grid is crucial to maintaining and strengthening Belgium’s prosperity, both for households and businesses.
This necessity is becoming even more important in the current context of the transition towards a low-carbon society, as well as in the geopolitical context of increased energy independence within Europe and beyond.

Elia plays an essential role as transmission system operator and developer of the high-voltage electricity grid.

More specifically, the Grid Projects North department is responsible for the realization of investment projects for the development of the high-voltage grid in Flanders. This includes projects for connecting industrial customers, reinforcing substations of distribution system operators, and strengthening the overall underlying transmission network.

The engineering and design activities related to investment projects in Flanders are regionally divided into the East and West portfolios. We currently have an open position for a Team Lead Project Engineer Substations North-West.

Our project portfolio will grow significantly in the coming years, with a strong focus on the rapid delivery of these projects for society, always with attention to cost efficiency and with safety as a top priority for all stakeholders involved.

Are you a technical expert with experience in leading multidisciplinary projects?
As Team Lead Project Engineer Substations, you lead a team of talented project engineers who act as the key link between project managers and designers. Your team is responsible for the technical development of the substation part of projects, from the scoping phase, through design follow-up, to project completion.

Your Responsibilities

As Team Lead Project Engineer Substations, you are the driving and inspiring force behind your team. You are responsible for coaching and development and for managing the entire performance cycle of your team members. You allocate projects within your team, taking into account experience and workload.
You are responsible for the quality of the studies delivered by your team and you facilitate smooth collaboration between the different departments.
You are actively involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility study (conceptual phase) to project completion. You proactively identify the impact of new concepts on project execution and take action to ensure smooth implementation.
Your creativity and vision are reflected in the development of new processes and tools. You ensure that the technical studies meet expectations.
You contribute to the further development of the organization and help shape innovative processes.
You report to the Engineering Manager.

Your Profile

You hold a Master’s degree in Civil or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent through experience.
You have experience as a people manager.
You possess strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
You have strong analytical skills to solve complex technical problems.
You are able to design new processes and implement them within the organization.
In addition to an excellent command of Dutch, you have a professional knowledge of French and English.

Salary: a competitive salary package, allowance for representation expenses, year-end bonus, double vacation pay, meal vouchers (€8 per working day), eco-vouchers, year-end vouchers as well as bonuses based on individual and group results.
