Your impact
At Elia, we make the energy transition possible. As a leading European transmission system operator, we ensure that sustainable energy reaches everyone safely, reliably and efficiently. This is no simple task: the rise of renewable energy, batteries, flexibility, digitalisation and an increasingly integrated European energy market is making the energy system more complex than ever. That is why we are investing heavily in innovative data-driven solutions and new grid infrastructure.
As Team Lead Digital Grid Data Operations, you will play a leading role in the digitalisation of the electricity grid. You will ensure that high-quality, reliable data form the foundation of our Digital Twin, which we use to model, analyse and operate today’s and tomorrow’s grid 24/7. You will lead an experienced team of data experts and work with state-of-the-art tools that are continuously developed by our product teams.
Your role
- You will ensure that the right data reach the right users at the right time. In doing so, you will oversee and improve the entire end-to-end data flow: from the design phase of new grid infrastructure through to the daily 24/7 operation of the electricity grid.
- You will organise, plan and monitor your team’s day-to-day activities, while managing and prioritising the backlog. This ranges from simple requests to process new data to more complex issues, taking into account the needs of projects and internal stakeholders.
- You will safeguard the quality of our technical master data and work closely with product teams and data users. They need timely and accurate data, and you will be their first point of contact for questions.
- You will contribute to the strategy and implementation of initiatives to further improve and automate data flows, processes and tools.
- You will be the driving force behind the continuous improvement of our data quality. Together with experienced product teams, you will deploy innovative solutions, ranging from rule-based checks to deep learning, to further enhance the reliability of our grid data. You will also be responsible for documenting and structuring the associated new work processes.
- You will provide clear dashboards and reporting that offer insight into the quality of our data and the progress of the backlog, from daily operational activities to strategic decision-making at management level. You will also contribute to defining and implementing relevant KPIs.
- You are a true people manager. You inspire, coach and support your team members in their professional growth. You ensure that everyone can perform at their best and enthusiastically contribute to the team’s objectives.
What do you bring?
You thrive in an environment where clear structures and high data quality are crucial. In many cases, the data processed by your team have a direct impact on the operation and stability of the Elia grid and, by extension, on Belgium’s electricity supply. You also gain energy from coaching, supporting and helping your team members grow.
To achieve this:
- you hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant technical field, such as IT, electrical engineering or data;
- you are naturally curious about all aspects of data management and data quality and enjoy keeping up with developments in this field, both within and outside Elia;
- you use reports and dashboards to turn insights into concrete follow-up actions;
- you enjoy engaging with stakeholders to understand their expectations and concerns and to address them proactively;
- you have an affinity with technical infrastructure and are motivated to deepen your understanding of the operation and technical complexity of the Elia grid. Knowledge of electricity grids and high- and low-voltage equipment is an asset, but not a requirement;
- you have a critical eye: what works well, what does not, and what needs to improve tomorrow?
- you are willing to gain hands-on experience with tools such as MS Office, Jira and Confluence, as well as with the systems in which we manage our data and data flows;
- you are skilled at setting up simple, practical and clear structures;
- you speak Dutch and French, both at a minimum B1 level. Knowledge of English is an asset.
