Are you a technical expert with a passion for protection systems and high-voltage installations? Elia is looking for an IED configuration and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) Technical Expert for Protection Cubicles to join our Software Interface team in Brussels.
You will play a crucial role in the tuning and control of our Standardized Protection, Automation and Control Systems (SPACS).
Your main tasks include:
- The configuration of Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) used in protection cubicles, which is the main role of the Software Interface team. Based on electrical schemes and logical schemes (functional block diagram) from project studies, you particularize standard IED configuration files for specific applications on HV grid. You also act as a quality controller for the studies.
- Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) : You are responsible for the configuration files and the compliance with the study and Elia's protection concepts. You are available (on site and/or remotely) to support the team that conducts the FAT on the project cubicles.
- Standards improvement: Contributing to the development and improvement of standards by providing feedback on concept notes, application notes, diagrams and IED parameterisation.
- Support: Answering questions from designers on standard diagrams and parameterisation, and support on-site technical teams during commissioning.
- Expertise development: obtaining and maintaining knowledge in all relevant standards within your work area and ensure their correct application.

Your Profile
- Education: you have a bachelor’s degree in electronics, electromechanics, electrical engineering or equivalent through experience.
- Language skills: you have a good knowledge of Dutch or French, and a basic knowledge of the second language; you have a basic knowledge of English.
- Technical passion: you are interested in electrical engineering and you are motivated to expand your expertise in power system protection and power system automation.
- Solution-oriented: you are customer-oriented, a team player and willing to work in the field.
- Communication: you have strong oral and written communication skills; you are persuasive and analytical.
- Experience: you have a number of years of experience in any of the following domains: SPACS cubicles, programming of IEDs, operation of high-voltage grids and protection systems, and knowledge of high-voltage equipment.
- Software skills: experience with MS Office and structured reporting.
