Central AI Team Manager

The Central AI Team Manager leads the group’s central AI capability within IT, acting as the primary orchestrator, enabler, and technical authority for AI adoption across the organization.

 

As Central AI Team Manager you will drive the development of AI governance, frameworks, platforms, and reusable components, delivers selected group‑wide AI projects, and fosters innovation while ensuring responsible AI practices across the group.

 

You will be working in close collaboration with Local CIOs, the Head of Group Cybersecurity, the Head of Group Engineering & Architecture, some central teams (as Data & Office IT), as well as the AI Incubator & Innovation teams, ensuring that AI solutions are secure, scalable, compliant, and aligned with group‑wide technology standards. You will report directly to the Group CIO.

 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Define and maintain group-wide AI governance, standards, and ethical guidelines
  • Ensure alignment with cybersecurity, data governance, privacy, and architecture standards
  • Translate AI standards into practical engineering frameworks and reusable components
  • Provide expert guidance on AI engineering, MLOps, and GenAI solutions
  • Lead the delivery of selected central AI platforms and strategic AI projects
  • Identify and prioritize valuable AI use cases together with business stakeholders
  • Co-own and operate central AI platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and security
  • Support and align local AI initiatives across the group
  • Drive AI innovation, experimentation, and proof‑of‑concept activities
  • Build and nurture a strong AI community within the organization

 

Your profile

  • Master or bachelor degree in computer science, Engineering, AI, Data Science, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in AI/ML engineering, data science, or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in AI / ML engineering, covering model development, deployment, and lifecycle management
  • Solid knowledge of MLOps, GenAI platforms, and modern AI tooling (e.g. model registries, vector databases)
  • Experience with cloud‑based AI services and integration with data platforms and governance frameworks
  • Good understanding of cybersecurity, privacy, and responsible AI, with the ability to translate standards into reusable frameworks
  • Disciplinary and functional leadership and influencing skills across diverse teams, without direct authority
  • Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex AI topics for non‑experts
  • Strategic and pragmatic mindset, with a strong focus on delivery and adoption
  • Collaborative, culturally aware, and comfortable working in international environments
  • Experience in group‑level or multi‑entity organizations is highly desirable.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch, French and/or German is a plus

Location

Brussels as main location, with homeworking options and regular travel to Berlin
