(Junior) Asset Manager - Metal Pylons of Overhead Lines
Function
Would you like to take (the first) steps into the technical world of metal pylons high voltage, maintenance, energy...? Are you eager to learn and driven to follow a junior track and develop into a full-fledged Expert Asset Management? Then perhaps this job is for you!
You will be part of the team that makes decisions about the repair, reinforcement or replacement of metal pylons based on risks, the area around overhead lines and the impact on the electricity system.
JUNIOR TRACK
In addition to the fact that you'll be immersed in the world of Elia, you will master the technical and substantive aspects of the job during this intensive and enriching learning path. An experienced Asset Manager will guide you through their daily tasks, so you will learn “on the job”.
You will also accompany the maintenance crews and actively participate in activities with stakeholders (such as the development of the network and operational working methods).
In addition, you will follow technical training both in Belgium and abroad with regard to job-related subjects as well as specific training in Asset Management (such as participating in working groups, sharing knowledge among TSOs (Transmission Systems Operators)). The objective of this path is to learn the tricks of the trade and develop into a full-fledged Expert Asset Management.
ARE YOU THE PERSON WE'RE LOOKING FOR?
- You have a master’s degree in civil or industrial engineering in construction or mechanics.
- (Electro)mechanical technology excites you enormously and you want to expand your technical expertise and share it with others.
- You have a strong affinity with soil mechanics and stability calculations and a good knowledge of applicable standards;
- You are able to assess technical details in depth and place them in context for reporting purposes. When doing this, you take into account the technical and financial aspects of asset management.
- A knowledge of metal-pylon stability and corrosion is an advantage;
- You are eager to learn and quickly absorb new subjects.
- You work in a structured and precise manner. You have a critical eye and like to immerse yourself in complex subjects and/or technical details.
- You take a pragmatic approach to work and are results-oriented.
- You are customer-oriented.
- You can work independently and have a proactive and entrepreneurial attitude.
- You like to communicate and have the necessary powers of persuasion.
- You are a real team player.
- You're not afraid of making presentations.
- You can express yourself easily in English and in Dutch and/or French. You are willing to hone your language skills during the learning path if necessary.

Job description of an experienced EXPERT ASSET MANAGEMENT
The activities encompass both existing and new assets:
- You will develop inspection methods and use the results to define the condition of assets;
- You will define the methodology to process the inspection results (e.g. how the severity of damage can be classified based on measurements, design requirements and functionality);
- You will develop and implement new tools, inspection techniques and data that make it possible to process inspection results more efficiently;
- You will evaluate the possibility to repair damage of metal pylons;
- You will assess information about situations that maintenance teams encounter on a regular basis;
- You will analyse incidents and prepare the policy on maintenance, repair and replacement works;
- You will examine diagnostic methods in order to increase the reliability of assets and extend their lifetime;
- You will develop and give training.
