EXTERNAL Function

Within Elia Group’s division for Digitalization, IT & Innovation (Division D), we have recently implemented a product organization as new operating model to complement our classical project-oriented way of working. Division D offers a series of chapters specialized according to expertise areas in which the primary goal is to offer highly qualified resources towards the different projects and products. One of these chapters is the Engineering Chapter gathering profiles such as cloud engineers, ops engineers specialized in designing, implementing, and operating execution environments. We are looking for a Chapter Lead who will attract, develop, and retain scarce talents in order to capitalize the know-how, rationalize the best practices and increase our maturity in the different expertise areas. As a Chapter Lead, you will be the line manager of a team composed of internal and/or external resources. You will report directly to the Director of Chapters.

Your Tasks as Chapter Lead

  • Define a coherent vision, strategy, and budget for the chapter in accordance with Elia Group’s strategic goals, in-line with other Chapter Leads.

  • Organize SPOC and collaborate closely, as a sparring partner, with a wide range of stakeholders across the organization, including product or project teams, senior managers, and external partners to identify strategic priorities. Manage the demand and the capacity of the chapter.

  • Drive the change initiatives impacting the chapter's functional areas.
  • Evangelize and “tell the story” of the chapter through various communication channels to all key stakeholder segments.
  • Gather, track and report on the value proposition KPIs of the chapter.
  • Oversee and ensure group cohesion on chapter level, considering the diversity of the respective chapter members. This may require travel efforts between 50hz and ETB locations.

Specifically, as the Chapter Lead for Engineering, you have the non-exhaustive following tasks:

  • Drive continuous improvements of the offered services (design, implementation, and operation) and the supported execution environments in terms of reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Challenge, qualify and coordinate impacts from requests of products or applications running on supported execution environments.
  • Resolve priority conflicts due to resources availability with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to convergences towards other execution environments.
  • Play a key role in optimizing costs, troubleshooting complex issues and contribute to the overall cloud architecture.

  • Your technical curiosity combined with your pragmatic and constructive mindset facilitates the emergence of sustainable solutions for our organization.
  • 3+ years of working with teams using agile methodologies.
