Data-Driven Grid Model Engineer
Use Data to Shape the Future of Energy!
At Elia, Belgium’s Transmission System Operator (TSO), we are at the forefront of the energy transition—shaping a more sustainable, efficient, and reliable power grid. Our Asset & System Data team develops a digital twin of the high-voltage network, enabling cutting-edge data analytics, real-time decision-making, and future grid planning.
As a Grid Model Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in this transformation. Your work will ensure that the grid models powering network simulations and real-time operations are accurate, intelligent, and forward-thinking. You’ll integrate live operational data, develop high-quality system models, and leverage machine learning to enhance data-driven decision-making.
This isn’t just another engineering job—it’s a chance to shape the backbone of tomorrow’s energy system.
Your Impact
- Design the Grid’s Digital Core: Build and refine the data models that define the future of energy operations.
- Optimize the Energy System: Ensure that load, generation, and storage data is structured and integrated into critical network analysis tools like PowerFactory and EMS.
- Turn Data into Insights: Combine historical operational data with real-time grid models, creating an intelligent energy system that informs key decisions.
- Bring Automation & Intelligence: Develop automated validation and integration processes, using Python scripting and advanced analytics to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Enhance Grid Understanding: Ensure that base models and data structures provide high-quality insights to support network analysis and planning
- Be a Key Player in the Energy Transition: Your work will directly support the integration of renewable energy, improve grid stability, and help Belgium achieve its climate goals.
What You Bring
- Master’s degree in a technical field (preferably Computer Science).
- Passion for energy systems—knowledge of high-voltage networks is a plus, but we’ll help you become an expert!
