EPC Contract Manager

Do you want to play a crucial role in the energy transition and contribute to important projects in the interest of society? Elia Group's Works Procurement team is looking for a driven EPC Contract Manager to join our dynamic team.
Our Works team plays a key role in the sourcing and strategic procurement of works necessary for the construction of Elia Group's energy grid infrastructure. This includes a wide range of energy projects, e.g.:
- Electrical and civil works in high-voltage substations
- High-voltage lines
- Underground cables
- Turnkey solutions
We follow up on how ongoing energy projects are developing, ensuring that they progress smoothly from a commercial and contractual perspective.
Responsibilities
We are expanding our team with an EPC Contract Manager to oversee two major substation projects under EPC-FIM (Engineering-Procurement-Construction with Free-Issue Material) contracts. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and advising the project team with regard to all contractual and commercial aspects
- Ensuring that services provided are in accordance with agreed service levels and commercial conditions
- Handling and proactively managing contractual changes, orders and possible issues
- Drafting and managing commercial documentation, including record-keeping, reporting, performance monitoring, price adjustments and formal communications
- Managing contract risks, claims, disputes and resolutions
- Providing feedback to internal Elia Group teams in order to prevent issues
- Serving as a mediator between the supplier and the Elia Group teams in escalated situations
- Taking care of supplier management to ensure a constructive environment and contribute to contractual delivery
In addition, your duties will include the following:
- Supporting and reviewing the qualification process of new players for future EPC projects
- Consulting with colleagues with regard to knowledge of the relevant market(s) and supplier(s) with a view to better negotiating contractual terms or defining future strategies
- Working on challenging cross-cutting objectives within the Works team or Procurement or Elia Group working groups

Your Profile
- You have a master's degree with a technical, commercial or legal background or equivalent through experience
- You have at least five years' experience in project contract management of major infrastructure projects (preferably turnkey or EPC projects)
- You have strong technical skills and experience in energy projects
- You are well organised and are systematic and proactive in your approach, with not only an ability to work independently but also an appreciation for teamwork
- As well as having an analytical mindset and being solutions-focused, a problem solver and an effective communicator, you have good powers of persuasion and are not afraid to challenge existing issues
- You have a strategic focus and a broad overview of general project targets and Elia Group interests
- You are fluent in Dutch and English and have a good knowledge of French
Experience in the following areas will be considered an advantage:
- Experience of turnkey or EPC-type contracts
- Experience of negotiations or knowledge of contract dispute and resolution
(de-escalation) mechanisms - Experience of MS Office, Aconex, SAP and/or Ariba Sourcing
