Internship - Steel Certificates Control Tool & Debugging of Mechanical Calculation Integration
Function
Within the Engineering Standard & Expertise (ESE) department, you will work in the Calculation Centralized Activities team. This team is responsible for various processes, including:
• Quality Control: Monitoring the production processes of high voltage lattice towers. Certificates of the steel used for producing each tower are provided by the production company. These certificates ensure that the steel meets the standards and specifications required by Elia.
• Development of Calculation Tools: The team continuously develops mechanical calculation tools for sizing high voltage towers. This includes the integration of new calculation formulas according to evolving standards and regulations.
• Your Responsibilities Include:
o Automation of Steel Certificate Control: You will be involved in developing a tool to analyze PDF certificates and extract relevant information using low-code solutions like PowerApps and programming languages such as Python and C++.
o Validation of Mechanical Calculation Tools: Testing and validating new functionalities and calculations in our tools. This includes ensuring that the implementation is complete and free of errors. Automation of these validation tests can be done using VBA, C++, or Python macros.
o Collaboration and Support: You will work closely with the SDI Integration Engineer and the EMS team to ensure that all processes are executed efficiently and according to standards.
• Key Aspects of the Job:
o Detailed control and validation of steel certificates.
o Development and debugging of calculation tools for mechanical structures.
o Implementation of new standards and regulations in existing systems.
o Testing software integrations to ensure the accuracy and reliability of calculations. These tasks will enable you to gain in-depth knowledge and experience in both quality control and technical development within the energy infrastructure sector.
Your Profile
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with the following profile:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.
• Basic knowledge of programming languages such as VBA, C++, or Python.
• Experience with low-code platforms like PowerApps is a plus.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Good understanding of French and English.
