Elia aims to become a data-driven organisation in order to achieve its strategic objectives. The mission of Grid Development within the Customers, Markets & System department is to develop the grid infrastructure of the future within the context of the energy system's transition to net zero. The energy revolution goes hand in hand with the advent of new technologies for both load and generation and the emergence of many small new players.

 

The roadmap towards net zero has been reflected in European climate goals and transformed to the national level. However, for Elia the addition of a more granular locational view is key for our mission as a (local) transmission system operator, even when these small players are not directly connected to the Elia grid. This local information is crucial for making forecasts of electrification, estimating future energy consumption, determining the need for local flexibility, etc.

 

Within the Grid Development department, it is the role of the Scenarios, Processes & Data team to make the translation from national to local data and to design models for the implementation of renewables, the advent of electrification and the development of flexibility means. We are currently looking for a new manager to lead the Scenarios, Processes & Data team at Grid Development. You will be responsible for defining the strategy of the team, the development of the team members, coordination of projects with 3rd parties and ensuring compliance with regulation.

 

Your responsibilities:

 

  • Define and be responsible for the strategic plan of the team, in cooperation with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify long term FTE needs for the team in order to achieve the strategic ambitions.
  • Make the trade-off between insourcing and outsourcing.
  • Forecast and manage the team’s budget.
  • Establish, adapt, and document business processes.
  • Steer the team’s work plan and set priorities.
  • Facilitate team members growth of both hard and soft skills.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members.
  • Align transversal objectives with colleague managers of GD.
  • Define team members’ objectives in line with the strategy of GD.
  • Oversee daily operations.
  • Ensure the team complies with legal requirements.
  • Coordinate initiatives with 3rd parties such as DSO’s.

Your Profile

 

  • By preference, you have prior people management experience. 
  • You have a master's degree in an analytical field. An electrical engineering degree would be a major asset.
  • You have knowledge of electrical engineering concepts and data management concepts.
  • You can bring clear messages supported by data driven decisions.
  • You are proactive and have a good sense of responsibility.
  • You are a team player.
  • You are persistent. 
  • You speak fluent Dutch and/or French and have an English level B2 or above.
