Market Settlement Operator
Function
Elia plays a key role in facilitating the electricity market, from real-time flexibility to long-term system adequacy. Our processes ensure that market participants can provide essential services—running auctions, onboarding and prequalifying assets, verifying service delivery, and more.
Your role in the energy transition
As a Market Settlement Operator, you will join a dynamic team at the heart of market operations. You’ll have the opportunity to work in the fast-paced energy sector and contribute directly to Belgium’s electricity market.
What you’ll do
With the launch of new processes in November, we are strengthening our team to support the capacity remuneration mechanism (CRM), ensuring energy supply adequacy in Belgium. Your main focus will be on verifying the correct delivery of contracted services, but you’ll also interact with other CRM processes and flexibility products. You’ll be part of a collaborative team where colleagues handle similar tasks across different processes. You’ll also collaborate with Key Account Managers, teams developing and supporting these processes, IT tools, etc.
After completing your onboarding and training, your key responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring daily operations and addressing any issues to ensure seamless processes.
- Verifying service delivery for different CRM capacities: monitoring, validating, and documenting performance, determining remuneration and potential penalties, and coordinating tests.
- Generating reports (periodic or ad-hoc) on the performance of the CRM, for internal stakeholders and external regulators (e.g., CREG).
- Optimizing processes by identifying improvements and integrating new products into operational controls.
By taking on these responsibilities, you will develop deep expertise in CRM and related market mechanisms at Elia. Your problem-solving mindset, hands-on approach, and drive for operational excellence will be key to ensuring compliance and quality service.
What you bring to the team
-
A master’s degree in engineering, economics, or exact sciences.
- Interest in developing expertise in the electricity market.
- Preferably 1 year of relevant professional experience.

- Strong Excel and Office skills (Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Python (or similar programming environments) for data analysis.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- A collaborative mindset—you thrive in a team environment.
