At Elia Group, our Open-Source Program Office (OSPO) is dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration through the strategic use of open source software (OSS) and InnerSource methodologies. Our goal is to empower employees across the organization to effectively utilize, contribute to, and lead open-source projects, ensuring compliance with licensing obligations and driving forward our open source strategy.
To further strengthen our team, we are looking to hire an Open-Source Specialist, which will play a vital role in shaping and implementing Elia Group’s open source and InnerSource strategy. As Open Source Specialist your goal is to support our teams in leveraging open-source software while ensuring adherence to licensing requirements, contributing to existing projects, and spearheading new initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on open-source license compliance and assist teams in resolving licensing issues.
- Aid development teams in setting up and utilizing our software composition analysis tool (FOSSA).
- Track, summarize, and present the overall state of open-source license compliance.
- Collaborate in the creation and continuous refinement of our open source and InnerSource strategies and policies.
- Engage with internal stakeholders (legal, IT security, product owners, etc.) regarding the use and contribution to open-source projects.
- Promote awareness and understanding of open source and InnerSource practices within the organization.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- You have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as software developer with some years experience in an open-source-related role.
- An eagerness to learn and coach others about open source, open-source license compliance, and InnerSource.
- Strong analytical abilities and excellent communication skills.
- A quick learner with the willingness and capability to understand new concepts, including existing software architectures and workflows.
- Fluency in English is essential. Additional language skills in Dutch, German, or French are a plus.
- Willingness to travel to Germany (Berlin) once every quarter for 2 to 3 days.
