Are you ready to steer the energy transition by managing risks and opportunities and making a tangible impact? Elia Group's Risk Department is on the lookout for a Risk Expert to coordinate activities associated with business risks and opportunities. In this dynamic role, you'll work within our Internal Audit, Risk Management and Compliance team, coaching and supporting colleagues at Elia in enhancing their risk management practices. You will be coached by and reporting to the Risk Manager.
As a Risk Expert, your role is multifaceted and influential, encompassing the following responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the business to implement and enhance the enterprise risk management framework
- Conduct risk and opportunities assessments and gap analyses to identify areas for improvement and mitigate potential risks to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Proactive Risk Management: Take a proactive approach to risk management, especially in managing affiliates and inorganic growth initiatives.
- Transparent Risk Insights: Provide transparent insights into key sources of risk, supporting our Board and Executive Committees (Group and Belgian) in their decision-making processes.
- Risk Prioritization: Aggregate and prioritize risks, whether strategic, operational, or financial, contribute to present a synthesized view to senior management, executive committees, audit committee, and the board of directors.
- Risk quantification: Develop quantification techniques to enhance decision-making based on quantified risk assessment. Support business evolution and regulatory requirements in that regard.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with your Audit & Compliance colleagues in Belgium and Germany as well as with various other departments, including Strategy, EU Affairs, and Sustainability, to monitor and oversee Elia Group's risks and opportunities.
- Network Building: Build a robust network, both internally and externally, to swiftly identify emerging risks and leverage expert insights.
- Effective Communication: Translate risk assessment results into clear, effective reports and language tailored for senior and executive management audiences.
- Guidance on Risk Mitigation: Offer guidance on appropriate frameworks and approaches for risk management and mitigation.
- Efficient Information Exchange: Leverage GRC software to gather and exchange information efficiently with risk owners and other control functions, including Internal Audit and Compliance teams in both Belgium and Germany.
- Risk anticipation: Actively monitor sources of future risks that may jeopardize Elia Group over the short to long term. Support implementation of new features that have a significant influence on the Enterprise Risk Framework, such as changes in regulation related to resilience, sustainability, cybersecurity,…
- Insights for Reports: Contribute insights on risk management systems, major risks, and opportunities for the preparation of the Elia Group integrated report and other annual reports and communications.
- Training and Coaching: Contribute to the development and delivery of risk management training programs
Your Profile
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in risk management giving you a solid understanding of maintaining an enterprise risk management program.
- The ability to drive and conduct risk assessments and remediation across multiple areas of the organization.
- The ability to make decisions with limited information.
- Strong capacity to manage evolving or competing priorities constructively.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- The ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams
- A pragmatic and hands-on approach.
- Diplomacy.
- Fluency in English, French and Dutch.
- Knowledge of Elia or the electricity sector is a plus.
