Function
We want to anticipate the departure (after a great career) of our current Teamleader Payroll and give our future Payroll manager every opportunity to settle in and grow in the role during a transition period of knowledge transfer.
You will be during a few years the right hand of the current payroll manager to allow you to evolve towards the role of Teamleader Payroll.
As Teamleader Payroll, you will be responsible for the team of payroll officers, within the Compensation & Benefits team. The payroll team is the privileged discussion partner of Elia's employees regarding personnel administration, in the broad sense of the word.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Being responsible for managing and coordinating all activities of the payroll team. This team handles the entire personnel administration for Elia Group 's active and non-active staff in accordance with applicable social and fiscal legislation.
- Being responsible for the training and continuous knowledge development of team members.
- Closely monitoring of social and fiscal legislation as well as sector-related rules and statutes and applying them in daily tasks.
- Organising, coordinating and managing cooperation with Elia's social secretariat to ensure smooth and error-free monthly payroll payments for Elia and satellite company staff.
- Optimising payroll processes and documentation.
- Managing and following up more complex, technical files: e.g. setting up a payroll structure for international mobility.
- Handling various forms of reporting for internal and external use.
- Ensuring timely and correct communication of payroll-related issues.
- Analyse the needs, develop, centralize and ensure the follow-up of all HR reporting in order to facilitate the appropriate follow-up of the service level agreements between HR and the company.
- On demand or by own initiative, participate in/lead transversal HR projects to actively contribute to the realisation of the objectives of the HR department in line with the needs of the internal clients.
- Develop, implement, manage and supervise the use of all HR-IT tools; this includes the supervision of the correct use of these tools and databases to develop user friendly and performant IT-applications in line with the current and future functional needs of the company.
- Implement all demands for control issued by the different audit bodies.

Your Profile
- You have a master or bachelor degree in people management or equivalent through experience.
- You have at least 8 years' experience in payroll and have mastered one or more payroll technologies.
- You have experience in leading and coaching a team.
- You have excellent knowledge of social legislation and keep up with the latest developments.
- You are preferably bilingual (FR/NL) and have a good knowledge of English.
- You are customer-oriented and enjoy working in a team.
- You have great analytical skills.
- You work independently and in a well-structured way.
- You have a great sense of responsibility and are pragmatic.
- You have excellent communication skills.
- You are proactive, flexible and stress-resistant
- You have a good command of MS Office and enjoy working with figures. Thorough knowledge of Excel is essential.
- An excellent knowledge of Xtend 365 is a plus.
